I wish I could go back to not having one. Life was a shitload simpler before the ubiquitous personal GPS tracking devices were glued to our ears.

Kids could be kids with reasonable certainty that the 12 year old they were talking to wasn't a 47 year old predator. Nobody was worried their nudes would be hacked.

And if I wanted to find the phone it was tied to the wall.

Telkom, the South African provider, is replacing hard lines with excellent quality sound with a dodgy, half assed signal that sounds like shit because there's no mobile signal booster so they don't have to maintain the network.

If I moved back to the UK I'd probably ditch my cellphone and just keep Zoom/Skype on my laptop for work.

I suppose I could, it just severely limits communication when you don’t have a phone.
i think I’d go crazy not being able to text my girlfriend for example, and you’d also miss out sharing things with each other

I just like being able to communicate with her easily in many ways, I have always done it and I would miss it. For example, maybe it’s tough to make a call, but a text would be easy to do. Or maybe I’m in my car, and want to give her a call, or at the store and want to see if she needs something…just basic tasks become much easier …but your situation is different I guess since your norm is different than mine. If you are used to communicating less and it feels ok then sure, no reason to have a cell

Gosh I could get frustrated with our limited talking, but you know…Who knows, it could speed things up for us too. It could make it easier for us to see if we actually “like” being together. It could mean we both be active as well. Promotes more chatting on dates.

I don’t think we’d mail letters lol. I think we’d either hang out more or keep things at a minimum.

If I lived with them yeah but it’s hard to get in touch with them right away if they don’t unless they work at a desk with a phone. I remember how annoying it was to find a pay phone and having enough change to call home when we couldn’t afford cellphones way back. It’s made life easier for me getting in touch with someone and using the GPS instead of a map in my face searching for the street and still not knowing which end or side the place was or if it was a one way street until I was there , definitely get done with my job faster now

when I lost my phone and didn’t have one for a couple of weeks I felt very free!
However…. Whilst I wouldn’t care initially. Thinking about it…. It’s a red flag!
You can’t do this world right now we’ll without one. And I’m shocked I’ve even said that as I hate technology…. BUT…. In this current time, not having a phone would be a detriment.
I’d say that they should get a phone but only turn in when needed.

I need a phone because of my job (small business owner, who also provides tech support), but if not for that, I would probably be happy with a cellular tablet for browsing the web a bit when I'm out. I hate being on the phone, and see it as a necessary evil. I prefer to have my relationships LIVE and IN PERSON, not remotely via a device.

Sure. Nobody I knew had one until after high school. It isn't a big deal. I only have a flip phone with no internet or apps at all on it. It is just used for calls and they can leave a voice mail message if I don't answer. No texting. :)

yes, I just got my first smartphone a couple of months ago. I had to get it for my job. I would think it was good. Also there would be no problem with her screwing around with her phone while we were out someplace.

Of course, Cellphones have only existed for the past several decades. People got along just fine without them before that.
