If you got drunk, were raped, and then beaten by your boyfriend then that's what you should have said; because the way you wrote this makes it seem like you were at fault and not accepting responsibility. I still live with parents in my 30s can’t afford my own place or a car, my parents are toxic af, I suffer depression, I’m highly insecure yet I don’t smoke or do drugs.

I have fun in the most simple ways and am happy when I have fun… therefore choosing drugs and alcohol for is not a smart choice even if you are feeling down
Because you live with your parents and can't afford it, being in your 30's you either have very few friends which could be of low-moderate quality, 1, or non at all, can definitely see how coveted your thoughts and mannerisms became due to it

Drugs and alcohol are not anything I care to try either way, whether I could afford it or not…. It’s not something I ever want people used to offer me alcohol and weed and I always declined by choice they would even be like “”if you loved me you would try it” and I would turn it down like “I love you but sorry no thank you”
I have high standards I care about my well being. I will not tarnish myself with drugs and alcohol like many people I know

@Psychotic_Buddhist my father was an alcoholic doc told him to quit drinking because his liver was getting very damaged because of it, I know people who used drugs and are all over the place, betraying people stealing from people to get their fix. Drugs and alcohol really do ruin people, sober minded people would know.

Also alcohol made my father more violent when he stopped he was a little less violent
