Do you believe in monogamy and why?

To me if a couple is non monogamous they love each other so much they want their partner to have all the best experiences and trust each other more since they know they’ll always come back to them.

For this question what if we take relationships or if it, and if you and your partner are non monogamous you simply have casual encounters with others and not another relationship altogether, does that change anything?

Absolutely I do.

I couldn't be in a relationship that wasn't monogamous.

My ex was polyamorous and had another girlfriend and it broke me in so many ways. I'm still recovering. - and that relationship ended two years ago.

I won't ever be with someone that wants more than just me.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Did you know he was polyamorous and did you have any other partner/encounters while being with him?

Not at first. Only we were together at first. But then his ex wanted to get back together and suddenly he told me he was actually poly and had had an open relationship with his ex and wanted both of us.

Then we broke up.

A few months after we got together again, while he was back with his other ex.
We made an agreement, he could only ben with the two of us, and I could be with whoever I wanted... I wasn't with anyone else though.
Well.. we did end up with all three of us doing stuff at one point and I did kiss and such with her and she got a crush in me.. and it was so stupidly messy - and then, even though they said we were all equal in the relationship, they announced they were getting married as well...

Wow sorry to hear and sounds like a bad situation for sure. I think it does sound like it was a case they might have been open but sort of used that to allow them to get back together.

I hope you can start to feel better and don’t hold this against yourself, none of that was your fault.

Yeah it was very bad... well I don't know what to say about it... I just never want to meet especially him ever again. And I'm never touching anything remotely close to polygamy. Cause that was way too rough and I don't know if I'll be able to handle such a thing ever again. - also, I myself don't want to be with multiple people at a time.

Well, I did go back to the asshole and such.. but I'm just trying to get over it properly

Yeah non monogamy isn’t for everyone and I think with stuff like this, both people need to be into it before meeting so you start the relationship on those terms. often if it’s introduced later on, it’s more to benefit one person and not both.

Everyone makes bad decisions so don’t be hard on yourself and it’s only a bad decision if you don’t learn from it and let it happen again. If you don’t make the mistake again (which I’m sure you won’t), you just need to see it as a learning experience.

Oh absolutely. I think it can be the right choice for some if you find the right dynamics in the relationship. I mean whatever works for ya.
But you really have to all be willingly a part of it and you cannot force something like that.

Yeah I had a relationship before that was non monogamous and from the start we both knew that so it worked well. She would go off with her other guys and do what she needs to and then we’d see each other again. That was my first sexual experience too so I think it may have changed what normal is for me.

Who knows, maybe if you didn’t have this experience then you would still encounter this situation later on in life and it would have been even worse. Regardless I hope you have been luck with love in the future!

I think it's a good idea for most people. There are people who can handle polyamory in a healthy way though.

Monogamy may have been selected for by cultural evolution due to its benefits to society.

Yeah I’ve read it was only introduced due to farmers wanting to give their assets to their rightful heirs. Maybe one day we will go back to non monogamy.

If you have multiple wives you can't put all of your attention to any of them, which is negative.
