Single mothers aren't as reviled as they were. Single mothers implied a child out of wedlock and therefore carried slutty connotations. Some couples wait for a pregnancy before getting married now.
The truth is though, that society does end up financially supporting single mothers so it is not surprising that people look down on that in the same way they would look down on a man who could work but chooses not to.
Just because you can get pregnant doesn't mean you should without setting up for it first.
I think it will be hard to persuade society that it is an OK thing.
Because people are stupid and singular minded.
Sadly, Most men view women as "property" and a woman with a kid isn't viewed in the same manner as a single woman without kids. The kid is a forever reminder she's been given to another man.
Which means single moms struggle finding a good loving guy. Most interested guys are just wanting sex from them.

I haven’t seen that in my area 🤷🏻♂️
There’s not hatred but single mothers are actually never married, divorced or widowed. Widowed mothers don’t receive contempt.
Never married mothers are usually irresponsible — not providing a loving marriage before getting pregnant. And yes, it takes 2 to get pregnant but women bear the burden so they have to be more discriminating when having sex etc.
Divorced mothers either didn’t know how to hold a marriage together or married a bum. Sadly, society encourages this irresponsible behavior.
Those costs on society -/ financial, crime, mental health etc are astounding but we are told that single mothers are angels and can do no wrong. Then when someone speaks up and mentions that they usually got themselves into their predicaments, single mothers become yet another victim class.
I have no idea where you live and who you associate yourself with. But I have never come across this in my life.
I think it's less hate and more "I don't want to be responsible for a kid that isn't mine".
