I sent money and created a gofundme for families who are either refugees or can't leave for various reasons. We must have sent thousands of dollars already.

This is the subway in which my friends were hiding after the bombs first hit. This guy interviewed my friend's daughter while she was holding her son.

I plan on going back to Germany next year, but we will be sending money, clothes, whatever we can before I leave. I am trying to bring them some tablets and laptops, so they can get on the internet, look for jobs, take some training, etc.

my wife and I tried but there is not govt support for refugees when I checked. as long as we can screen them in advance for a good fit and can reallocate them if doesn't work. We had space for a small family at the time, not sure we do now.

I think most people need to get out of there... now... only leaving those with weapons and ready to fight.

My friend in Kharkiv cannot leave. Her second youngest is 18. By law he is required to fight. So her and her husband will be in Kharkiv for the duration.

That's the situation for a lot of parents. They may not fight, but they do everything else. Gather bottles for molotov cocktails, help with the wounded, help with cleanup, provide food, etc.

@RolandCuthbert They are right in the thick of it. 2/3 of military is usually support, so I get that. I applaud their courage and wish them well. Can you send them supplies or is that logistically improbable?
I like the idea of people connecting online and making personal relationships. That should be happening with more people, school kids as well. required high school participation.

I would think power will be limited going forward, there's not much to stop the destruction of fixed targets. portable generation will be the only way I suspect... hand cranks...

I hope govts are getting out people that can and want to.. by can I mean, they have travel, money should not be a barrier since most are likely not rich people. Govt should provide paths out for women and old people. Should be ways to align potential/registered hosts with refugees.

I don't what you mean by sending supplies. I sent money. And we will try to take up another collection early next year. I am going back with some tablets, laptops, etc. Then we will probably meet up in Berlin and try to have a little get together to lift spirits.

Ehh, not personally. I gave money to UN orgs and others. There’s lots of grift in this area right now. Especially for Ukrainian women. Interpol has opened a wing devoted to hunting down traffickers of Ukrainian women.
