Let me know if I’m overthinking?

Me & My Boyfriend been in a committed relationship for 1 year now. He has a 3yr old child that I’ve seen a few times but he never really bring him around it’s like he keeps us separate. I don’t understand the reason behind it or maybe I’m rushing or overthinking things. He say he sees a future with me and we have talked about marriage a kids a lot (both 29yrs)! I just think for us to continue to grow I would have to become a little more involved with the child, it’s a huge part of him that I would like to be apart of as well. I don’t have a child! Am I rushing things or has it been long enough. Is he not sure about us? I can’t figure it out
