Its both, it hurts terribly when you miss them or you realize they've cheated on you, or lied to you or when it is over.

On the flip side, it is also one of the best feelings ever, when it is new and things or going great.

It will eventually fade, but it sucks in the meantime if it is causing pain or longing.

It's a difficult question. Sure you may fall in love and it will be the most amazing thing ever. And after awhile it will always end in pain. But maybe that is part of being in love for the pain of it either that you get cheated on or they aren't interested in you anymore or something that you will always probably find at the end is death accidentally (car crash or add "bad scenario here") or it just had to be (old age or sickness) at the end of the day it's about the memories the times you smiles the times you cried and the times you just know won't ever happen again. That's life and it may hurt but it's best to at least experience it once, because you only have one life make the best of it.

I've been in 2 serious relationships. I was DEEPLY AND BLINDLY in love in the first one. In the 2nd one, I was in love but it was easier to let go when the time came.

Falling in love is amazing. What hurts is when you invest so much in someone only for the relationship to fail. However, that pain is just the risk you take to find the right one and statistically you will be hurt more than you will succeed, but when you do find the right one it is so worth it.
