Is it too soon to ask If he’s looking for a relationship?

I’m getting mixed signals from the guy I’m seeing but I don’t even know what it is? We speak everyday basically but we’ve only seen each other 3 times so far as it’s only been 3 weeks. Is it too soon to ask what he’s looking for, I don’t want to waste my time and get attatched because I really think attatchment causes me to suffer. I was dating someone for a year for them to turn round and say they don’t want anything serious so I would kinda like to know as that year would have been saved if I asked. But it it pyscho of me to ask what he’s looking for? If I say to him ‘I want you but are you seeing other people cause I don’t know what this is’ is that too much? I just really wanna know what he’s looking for he only just come out of a relationship 2 months ago?

Instead of asking him "What are we?" why not just ask him, "What are you ultimately looking for in dating: a casual relationship or a mutual commitment?"

I wouldn’t ask anything like a “what is this/what are we” question especially since it’s only been 3 dates. However you could definitely ask what he’s looking for like if he’s looking for a casual fling or if he’s looking for something serious. I’ve done this plenty of times on a third or fourth date. If you asking that simple question scares him then he was just looking for a fling. If he just got out of a relationship, chances are he is not going to be ready for something serious so soon. Don’t be a rebound! Make sure you know what he’s looking for
