Why do I seek friendships with fast-paced, charismatic yet private types in managerial positions in the same way some people keep dating alcoholics?

Am I trying to torcher myself by someone out of my league, or is it just that they happened to initiate conversation with me in the beginning more often than my other colleagues or classmates? It feels like the same as people who repeatedly find themselves dating an alcoholic, whereby they claim that in the beginning of the relationship, they saw absolutely no signs that the person was an alcoholic just like their previous partner. Obviously, there must be some common traits that we admire about these people in the beginning.

For your case mentioned, though, I don’t see why you couldn’t date them? Or befriend them? I’d probably say: Just don’t do it out of some subtle financial motive, unless you were willing to learn some tips from them, but not exactly take what they worked for and which you could easily accomplish (the same), with time, for yourself, as well.

About the admiring of traits, I’d agree and that is somewhat disappointing, when it’s not an ideal situation (ofc).

I just fail to see how any occupational or socially-charismatic person, could be a bad influence to us? Or bad for us to be with/ around? 🤷‍♀️

We don’t need their ‘approval’ or ‘endorsement,’ just the conversational and intellectual exchange, is a major plus, at the end of the day. 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn't know. I've never dated someone in the white collar world. They've always been a blue collar person. We just are able to relax on weekends and nights to enjoy the time together.

I agree, they always told me don't date a girl who goes to Partial because she has mental illness and things don't always work out. But what did I do, I ended up dating one.
