Is it weird when you meet new singles, that you casually mention you're dating someone when the conversation turns friendly?

I need help settling a debate with my girlfriend.

She travels a lot and mentions meeting new people all the time. Sometimes men. When she says they had a great conversation, I ask her if she mentioned having a boyfriend. She said no, why would she mention her boyfriend, that's weird.

So is it weird or not weird?

And before all the haters come out telling me she's cheating on me... just don't bother. If I believed that I would not even post.

The debate is over if it's weird to make a piont to mention in casual coversation that you have significant other or not. Like they say something about the weather. And you say something like, "Yeah, my boy/girlfriend real loves this type of weather."

Mytake is that its pretty simple to slip a causal my girlfriend and I really enjoy "blah blah blah." Or a yeah totally my girlfriend was saying the same thing the other day.

You pretty much do. at any time in any casual or passing conversation just to prevrnt awkwardness later.

So to be honest. Whenever a guy approaches me in public and I can't see a reason why. The moment he asks private questions I try to work my fiance into the topic. I would feel weird when I dont know what he is trying to do randomly mention that "I have a partner".

In a bar or so, I am rarely alone so when one of us is approached from one person we quickly say that non of us is single.

When someone is obvious with his intentions I do say: "no thank you I have a fiance."(or something fitting and similar)

It gets more complicated online. There are so many people just trying and often I just think "what a nice conversation" and than he makes his intentions clear and I have to say no sorry and that is often the end of these conversations.

Also sometimes even saying it they dont stop than it gets weird and uncomfortable.(real and online)

But over all it just dose not seem like something to say except if they feel like there trying something then mentaion it in a round about way mostly
From one side I will not want them feel uncomftruble or feel I lead them, but I will not want to get them the idea this can go where its not

So over all I will not mentaion it except if its fitting or needed, else I think its kind of going too much to personal matters

Mentioning right from jump seems like an expedient way to shut the conversation down. Not every person of the opposite sex is single, or looking for anything out of a conversation. Some people are just bored or need to hear themselves talk. If they seem thirsty is the time to shut that off, but otherwise I'd say keep talking.

If you mention your SO in passing conversation, before any indication of them directly flirting, you save them from an awkward rejection, while also making your SO feel valued. So in my opinion its a thoughtful thing to do to mention it.
