Is not telling and lying the same thing or not?

I am unsure of this myself.

I guess it really depends on the matter like if it's a relationship thing, for example:
A woman wents out with her friendly male coworker to have lunch together, she later on gets asked about her day by her boyfriend, she says what food she had for lunch but DOES NOT mention going with her male coworker to avoid a possible fiasco.

• Is it lying in this case? It is withholding an information after all.
• If she'd tell she went with a FEMALE friend to avoid problems, then that IS lying.

Neither is good though, I try to be honest as much as I can with my partner (when I have one).
Men aren't always willing to listen though, and they start making assumptions even when you are honest like when you tell them about the lunch with a coworker. Maybe it's an insecurity thing? It's def. common!

The thing is , if you have to keep secrets from your partner cuz you don’t want to hurt them? then yes that is lying, because you are Covering up something that you wouldn’t want your partner doing to you, Why it’s important to be respectful to your partner when you are in a committed relationship , the only way you can be respectful to your partner is to eliminate things that you wouldn’t want your partner doing to you as well , Basically , wearing your partner’s shoes before making decisions , just because we assume something we are doing is innocent and we know we aren’t going to do anything dramatic to our partner , it might not be innocent to your partner and just assume , well That’s their problem if they can’t trust me , which makes you a selfish person only thinking of yourself Most people do not do this for each other and then they wonder why their relationships fail. It’s because they are only thinking of themselves. When you love someone and want that relationship to survive, it’s always best to make your partner your priority , Making your partner your priority comes with sacrificing as well, meaning removing yourself from things you don’t want your partner doing to you. When you learn to do that that’s where love grows because you are showing respect to your relationship

Theyre different but in the case you brought up are equally bad. With holding that Information and if the guy found out the it would look like you're trying to him it and would make it seem like it was a date and are cheating
