Is this normal that my wife always sleeping without doing nothing else at home?

Lately my wife just goes to work and then comes home and just sleeps. Is this normal? Do you think she may be depressed? What are the signs that my wife is depressed?

Sleeping all the time is either a sign that your wife has thyroid issues or is depressed or both.

You should talk to her about this. Especially if she's never acted like this before. Depressed people are often in denial about being depressed, too, and want to make light of it, "Oh, I'm just tired lately. Work's been hard..." The next question should be, well we've done nothing that we usually do together. Sex drops off.

Depressed people also don't take care of themselves. Meaning, she doesn't look as pulled together as she usually does. She's not exercising. They usually ONLY go to work and do the minimum to exist. Homework falls by the wayside. If your home was well cared for and meals well done, that's fallen off too.

If she doesn't want to go to a counselor, say you'll go with her because you're worried.

Clinical depressions can come about for actual reasons: stress at work, the loss of a parent, close friend. Or, if she has a history of depression, for no reason at all. Good luck.

Well she's going to work in first place so that's a good sign. She hasn't called in long term sick she's not sitting at home you know and doing nothing. She's working so perhaps the job she does is stressful. If she's working long hrs or she has new staff they need to be trained. She can't get her own work done. What about weekends? If she works weekends also she will be exhausted a 7 day week job is never a good idea.

Some people go to sleep to escape or cope with stressful situations. She may be stressed about something or feeling mentally or emotionally exhausted. She may be going to sleep so that she doesn’t have to think about it or deal with it.

If that’s the case, you’ll need cut out some time to listen to her, to be there for her, and allow her to confide in you or open up to you about what’s going on (if something is going on).

If she says, “It’s nothing.” But your gut feels like that’s not the case, continue to be receptive and seek to really understand what she’s going through. Help her feel safe enough to share what’s on her heart to you. Show her that you truly care about her.

If she feels that you are sincere, perhaps she will open up to you. But, again, don’t force it out of her. Create a safe space and let her come to you, if she feels like opening up to you. Let her know and FEEL that you’re there for her.

Had a girlfriend like that. Was really annoying. Basically broke up but remained friends.

The reason she slept most of the time was really to get away from life and the abuse she had suffered. She used pills to sleep. It took time but she eventually told me what happened. It was easier for her to do so after we were just friends and since then she has been diagnosed with PTSD.

Yes I think there is something quite wrong under the hood. Whether you can live with that is a separate matter. You might need some counselling wrt to the impact on you. How long has this been going on?

Depression, drugs, or maybe about to bounce. I just hope y'all don't have kids that are being impacted from that. Really drugs or an exit plan would be easiest to rule out, see if more money than usual has been going out over that timeframe. There is more to do in bed than simply sleep, social media, games, regardless of what's going on there's a problem there, for her, for both of you.

She is obviously in trouble and if this is long term then she is going to be in health trouble too. Make her go in the sun everyday even for a little while. Go to walk or play a small easy game like Badminton 🏸 or Ball catch. Whatever words for you two

From depression torvem a vitamin deficiency I’d definitely go to a clinical doctor first tons of vitamin deficiencies can cause fatigue that leads to depression it’s like a snowball effect

I’m no doctor, but I’d say no. Convince her she needs blood work. If her B12 is low that can make you sleep a lot. It happened to me once and they had to give me shots.
