I like this answer and chose it as mho because it talks about the reality that we CAN receive nice things from others. In all shapes, forms and sizes. It’s a nice treat when we can recognize it, and you sound like the type (by this comment) to take notice of good deeds in others, especially when it’s with good intention, genuine, and sometimes not for others but for yourself as well.

Nope never 🙂, no one has ever done for me anything ever. I have taken care of friends from same or opposite gender , fed them , took care of them when they were sick. Stayed awake whole night for a female friend for providing care while she was sick and we were living in drom in college. But nobody even visited me while I was sick. She told me guys like us are only good after thirty and she's embarrassed to be seen with me in public because I was a nerd and not cool like her.

I saved male friends from a bar fight and took the beating myself but they stopped talking with me afterwards.

These days I have a policy not to ask for help and not to help , I already have a unmatched IQ which can solve almost all problems.

Well I have practice taking care of myself and pulling out me from shit. I had abusive parents too and they managed their marital problems by beating me. Bullied in school , still no girlfriend ever , friends don't stay after getting help so I am quite familiar with this. But I have stopped helping most people anymore. These days I focus on my work (becoming a physicist) , study , have many hobbies , and help in animal shelters and fostering kittens. That's how life goes on , sometimes it gets difficult , some cry at night. Some memories haunt me as I have an eidetic memory so everything from childhood seems like yesterday. What choice do I have? Suicide? Thought about it multiple times. But it's the love of knowing and learning new things keeping me alive.

Everything you said is so spot on! (I'll say I'm usually not even a reliable person in the sense my goals and tolerance don't match up with other people's expectations of me. I do care about them. I wish them well, but I can't be their maid or errand runner all the time. I'm more of a second opinion/ listener at times/ and a cheerleader on rare occasions. More often than not. Anyways I say it not to tease or make light of your emotions, but!

I think you are well set in not depending on anyone, but I feel like you feel as if it wasn't a choice, so you may not see it in a positive light, but in reality. MOST people never choose true independence, unless it is just forced upon them. Some choose it because they feel tied down in groups, or as if those groups are overwhelming/ distracting. Many of the time, those people will be the ones well set early on in life- the popular/ the wealthy/ or those from big and semi- to near-perfect, functioning, but large families.

You're not missing out when you're truly independent. Sometimes it's nice to have a cross-over at times and be able to balance the two, but as you said.. there are new things to learn about.

A world we still know very LITTLE of, and we only have so much time. It's a mesmerizing thing. Exquisite. At least you can rest in solid truth, while some waver in unsteady/ chaotic/turbulent/inconsistent relationships and lives. Where they even need therapy and therapists to try and DESCRIBE and help them make sense of what their life truly is, and then what it could be.

In my case , I don't know what is like to be helped by someone. I have never been dependent , even to my parents from a very young age.
Intelligence is a double edged sword. Surely It can be helpful on many aspects but it hurts way more.
Therapy doesn't always work , if you already know about what the therapist is actually gonna say or how therapy works. One of the reason some of the very intelligent people carry lifelong mental health problems but eventually get accustomed living with it. Modern therapy relies on stoicism and that's not fullproof.

Sometimes they do, than they seemingly stop giving a fuck all of a sudden, which is nice because by that point i started to care about them more and than they fuck it all up by showing their true selves aka not giving a fuck about you.

Unfortunately people just don't care once they get what they want from you or they get distracted by something/someone "better" and then they play stupid and lie (fake nice or whatever) to you when you ask them whats up.

A lot of people are like this, and by the time you know that you are dealing with someone like this, it's usually too late. They stopped caring and i still do, because its hard to believe people like this exists.
