Should you try to help people in life?

5 years ago i worked at a gas station for a short time
was a woman there we worked together for a few months before she quit.

i texted her once & told her about one of my old jobs hiring just trying to help her out. she called me weird i was just trying to help her get a job.

months ago i tried to help my newer boss i give her a months notice to help her & she still talked bad about me after i left.

i'm reminded of what a few old teachers told me back in high school.
no good deed goes unpunished.

just asked this question to see what other peoples thoughts are on helping people or trying to.

Yes I believe people should keep their humanity and express their heart when they feel the urge to help

I could but, I don't see why anyone would want it! As far as I'm concerned, it's a terrible life!

I suppose.
Sorry, I thought this question said, "Should I try to help people in MY life". To answer the question at hand, I've helped a lot of people in life and, as I just said here a few hours ago on another question, I even kept two people from killing themselves.
