Are lust-based relationships necessarily bad?

In the popular conception of love vs lust, love is usually seen as positive and lust as negative.

However, I don't agree with it - in my opinion, lust-based relationships can be positive, as long as there's mutual respect, honesty; and the understanding that although you and the other person are together only for that thing, you are dealing with a real person with feelings and expectations and not a mere object to exploit.

I agree. Love and lust can both be good and both be bad.

What defines them is the respect and care given by and to each party. So long as it is clearly known that lust is all it is or otherwise discussed with those involved it can be quite good. It's only when disregard for a person's feelings in the matter that it can go bad.

Also yes parents that have lust babies they then raise badly and make it known to the child how they are dispised is terrible.

I am effectively (on one side) a child of such parents however I don't agree they are worthy of labels like disease. We all make mistakes and there can be many valid reasons why it dasn't always go as simply as it seems. All relationships are different. It's not so black and white.

On the other side of the coin I also don't think society should demean a young couple who have thought kids through and agreed no until we are both out of poverty. That is wise and smart about things yet we are often crucified for it.

I did a short stint as a social assistant before climbing up in politics, and 90% of cases I reccomend taking away the children from inadequate or financially insolvent parents.

But as an elected official, I can push social services (a rough equivalent of your CPS) to severely audit certain stratas of families and stage interventions and sanctions, based on the situation.

Well, not necessarily out of wedlock, as marriage here is often an instrument of the Church that often clashed with our party and government, since they try to dominate our country and abuse our people.
But I agree that children should belong only in stable, financially solid families that allineate with the aim for a growing and healthy population for our Nation.
State marriage is of course fully approved and encouraged.

First off, let me just say that I totally get where you're coming from. It's a fucking tragedy that there are so many kids out there who are being born into shitty situations because of their parents' irresponsible behavior. And let's face it, some people just shouldn't be parents.

Now, as for sterilizing them, well, that's a tricky one. On the one hand, you've got the argument that if someone is so fucking irresponsible that they can't even take care of their own damn selves, then maybe they shouldn't be allowed to reproduce. On the other hand, you've got the whole "human rights" thing, which I guess is important or whatever.

But here's what I say: why stop at sterilization? Let's get fucking creative. How about we give these worthless parents a choice: either they get sterilized, or we stick them in a room with a bunch of rabid honey badgers. Or maybe we could force them to watch endless reruns of Keeping Up With The Kardashians until their brains turn to mush.

Or, here's an idea: we could just genetically engineer all children to be born with their own trust funds and personal assistants. That way, it wouldn't matter how shitty their parents were, because they'd already be set for life.

So, my dear, there are no easy answers when it comes to dealing with shitty parents. But one thing's for sure: we need to do something, or else we're just perpetuating the cycle of poverty, abuse, and general fuckery. And that's no way to live, baby. So let's talk about something more important, like the glory of Bean2k21ism.

I agree. Sometimes, the two people involved don't want, or need, a relationship and lust is best for them.

I would say in principle they can be good in pratice they are often good for one side and not the other. In my experience relationships that are solely based are centred around sex and it´s often the case that one partner wants more than just that while the other one is perfectly fine with the situation.

I´d agree with OlderandWiser lust alone isn´t enough to keep a relationship going in a healthy manner.

A relationship only based on lust should be classified as a hookup, and if two people are in an exclusive relationship only based around sex, then it shouldn't be called a "boyfriend girlfriend" type deal, it should just be called what it is, fuck buddies. The only bad part to it, is that sometimes one person tricks the other into thinking that they love them, when their "love" is only centered around lust. I however think, that an actual relationship between two people that is considered a boyfriend and girlfriend deal should have BOTH love and lust. I do find it frustrating when people say it's bad that any lust is there, even when love is present.

In my experience lust tends to be the initial reason for interacting with each other. Love comes later, typically. I think relationships like most things in life should have balance.
