How important is it for your SO to post you?

I've been reading some scholarly articles about the damage social media does to relationships. One common thing I've seen is happy couples don't post at all, they may not even change the relationship status. What does the GAG hive mind make of this?

oh i immediately gave up the moment he was uncomfortable with me even saying we were celebrating his birthday on social media. it broke a piece of me that day. I don't know why he's so secretive, but he's a scorpio so there's nothing i can do. i don't care anymore anyways. but i used to post but not anymore. no one needs to know what we're doing anyways. i do get annoyed seeing other couples post sappy stuff tho.

also just because couples don't post doesn't mean they're happy. they probably don't want to show any failures of no valentines day presents to show, stuff like that...

Thank you for sharing! I can relate to that. My boyfriend also does not feel comfortable posting anything about us. Makes me a little sad considering he never untagged himself from all his ex's old posts of the two of them. In response to me he always asks why it's important and aside from my own insecurity I can't think of one good reason to post anything. That is what prompted me to do research.

It's not important to me. In fact, I'd prefer him to not post me. I'd be fine with him occasionally posting a photo, but that's all. I'm not a fan of sharing personal stuff on social media.

Its not important I trusted my past exes but having one picture together is nice and stops majority of guys DMing

I feel like that is the primary reason for posting pictures is to let other people know your person is taken.

Yeah thats part of it but its also just a nice feeling in general when someone shows you off

That's very true. Some of the articles I read asserted that the level of importance goes up with level of insecurity. It was fascinating.

I think its easy to overthink the subject if there are no trust issues I think its just a nice thing to do. Marking each others territory is just a plus

That is what my boyfriend says. I've read that some men view not posting anything as a means of protecting the relationship.

My memory is enough to protect and preserve what is precious and intimate about our relationship. I don’t want to parade what should be private and precious before a bunch of buffoons who might judge our treasures based on their failed and miserable jealous lives.
