Why is my mum being so mean?

I had a successful date with a nice guy. When I told mum about it, she commented that only guys with nothing to say would be interested in someone who talks as much as I do and then said it was stupid that a really smart guy showed interest in me, unless he’s like Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. What’s causing the nastiness? I have my faults, but I’m neither stupid nor bitchy.
