Why would a man finish your relationship saying he’s not over his ex, then start one with someone else weeks later?

Sounds like he was not genuine about his reasons for breaking up, which is so stupid because he could’ve just been honest. I’m sure that’s hurtful, but dwelling on the situation won’t change anything, it is what it is. I’d say to shake it off and start healing/moving on.

Pay no attention to any reason someone gives for ending a relationship. What he said is a variation on the classic linr "It's not you, it's me". It's just something people say to get the other person to go away with as little drama as possible.

That’s what I thought too. I know he was struggling with his divorce but I still think it was used as an excuse. That’s pretty obvious and confirmed my belief now he’s with someone else too. I’m just glad to be away from all of the lies and have been happier since.

Yeah he does still try to show that he cares. Not sure why though. A clean break is probably best. I ended it because he still wasn’t quite over his ex so thought some time alone would be beneficial but I guess he’s not really capable of being alone, some people aren’t.

A clean break is 100% best, as if you give him "another chance" he will torment you, over and over again with his ex, and i don't think you can take it too much, and you could burst out doing something that you don't want, so you better cut it out while is fresh, rather than being too late. 🤷‍♂️

I still have feelings for him, of course I do, he was a part of my life for a while and there’s no on and off switch, but my feelings are fading with time so I’m on the right track and am doing the hard things to get there.
