It really depends on the reason (s) that his friends don't like you. If it is something that is fixable then that might help but if it is for a reason that you can't fix then not much you can do. Sometimes people just don't vibe well with someone. You may have done absolutely nothing to deserve it either. The problem is that at your age boys and girls can be petty and not like someone for no reason at all. They may be doing it because they don't want to see their friend "taken" away from them. What I mean is that they see you as a threat.

As a peer of yours, here's what you need to do, reach out to him and ask him if he can help you out in any of your task that you gotta do like project work or something since boys are more shy for the first approach.
Once you manage to do that try initiating some simple talks keep the topics simple and not hold not very strong opinions in them. If you start a topic and it ends wait a minute or two for him to say the next else try again.
Gradually when you get to know his likes and dislikes and more about him, I bet he too gets the same.
You may expect him to make a snapchat Instagram contact or if he doesn't, he's really a shy one!
I guess all that can be done is, connect with him a little more privately where his friends don't intrude and keep the talks simple and don't be afraid to ask him out or to your home for simple stuff, it is only then that you will make yourself up to propose him or make himself propose you,
