He likes me, but I don't like him, what do I do?

He has been very sweet. We have been talking for a while now trying to get to know each other, and even though he's been wonderful, I just don't feel any spark between us. He is very attractive, and every time I see him, I think he's beautiful, but there's no attraction. Or at least on my side. He's always calling me his princess, and making time to see me or text me, even when he is busy. I just can't reciprocate yet, I don't feel like I'm attracted to him the same way he is. Have any of you been through this? How did you handle it?

Human nature is a funny thing.

You know, if he was to treat you bad, you'd be aching for him to be kinder to you meaning he would be the one asking this question not you. There lies the problem. You just cannot see he's a nice guy that really like you. but, he's TOO nice!

I think you're going to have to experience the nasty side of dating for a while, so you can learn to appreciate what you have!

Please don't take that as me having a go at you because I'm not. Sometimes the 'grass is greener' syndrome has a LOT to answer for!

It seems to me that you're trying to force yourself to be attracted to someone based on whatever engrained societal ideas that a woman ought to be attracted to are. Sure, a person can be physically attractive to you but if there isn't any reciprocation of attraction aside from the superficial aspects that would make for a potential long-term attraction (if that's what you want) it's not going to pan out for you. Granted, if you just want a fling then most men likely won't turn it down if that's all that it would be. Figuring out what you want on the onset will make decision-making easier for you. It doesn't help to force yourself into something you don't want or aren't ready for or else you don't feel this person fits the bill for you. Being honest and upfront helps lots.

I base my relationships, past the initial attraction, upon the type of person she is. The fickleness of emotions or "spark" is a poor way to build a relationship.
