What do "bases" mean in a relationship?

I guess here's a many phases relationship bases, but what do you know?

Sooo, in relationships, when people talk about "bases," they're sorta using a baseball metaphor (like what else) to describe how far they've gone physically. Here's the breakdown:

First Base: We're talking kissing. Like, just smooches.
Second Base: This is getting a bit more handsy, like touching above the belt.
Third Base: Things get more heated here, with touches going below the belt, but not all the way, y'know?
Home Run: And this is the whole deal – going all the way with sex.

Just a heads-up, this is a super old-school way to talk about it, and, tbh, everyone's different. The big thing? Always be cool about asking and respecting what everyone's comfortable with. No pressure, no rush.

I have never used or even thought about the “base” system when out with a girl. Whatever happens will happen. I was at a party once went from 3rd made to home skipping 1st and 2nd. And that was purely because of the conversation and alcohol we were having. Where is conversation in the base system?

We always knew it as 1st base was kissing. 2nd base was getting felt up or feeling someone up. 3rd was hand stuff involving genitalia. Home was sex, oral/penetration.
