What should my response time be to a ‘bad texter’?

I’m genuinely unsure. i’m not trying to play games or anything, but when someone leaves you unopened for days before responding, what is the correct amount of time you should respond. Usually i really don’t care and would respond within an hour. however this keeps happening and i’ve raised the issue too them but nothing changes.

are you supposed to leave the on read for days as well, or continue responding as you usually do? Or should i just not talk to me people like this🤣

just a bit more information- i have known this person for many years, we’ve very close and when we spend physical time together, there is never an issue, it genuinely is just on the phone. But he’s a guy in his early 20s and his phone never leaves his hand?

Ay man, "bad texters" are super annoying. I feel you on not wanting to play games but also not wanting to be left on read that long either.

Personally if they're taking days to reply, I wouldn't stress about getting back right away either. A day or two is fair play, sends the message you're not just sitting around waiting.

That said, dropping it for like a week might be overkill too and could damage things. Maybe 1-2 days max between replies if they take that long? Still shows you're not their doormat but haven't completely iced them out either.

You could also be straight up like "yo, I noticed the slow texting thing, just wanna say it kinda bothers me when it's more than a day between. No pressure, just giving you a heads up." See if they make more effort after knowing it's an issue.

Or honestly, find someone who actually matches your communication style better if multiple talks don't change it. Don't waste your time if you're always gonna feel played waiting days for a "wyd". Plenty other fish and all that haha

Just do you, respond when feels right to you. Don't let anyone make you wait around like that.

I have the same issue with my current (prospective) partner. When I text her she texts me back either late in the evenings or by the following morning, blaming her heavy workload at work for the reason.

count days. do not read for same number of days then reply. then count days if they did not learn how it feels stop replying
