i finally spoke up on how my boyfriend wasn’t giving me any attention, didn’t ask about my day or anything like that, and he promised he would do better and show me that he cared.
well, it’s been 3 days since our conversation, and he didn’t change. as soon as he got back from work, he didn’t bother asking about my day or anything like that. i’m not sure if i should bring the issue up again or just break up with him.

Yo that's definitely frustrating. Empty promises are the worst. A couple things I'd think about:
- 3 days isn't that long, some people really do need more time to change habits. But you also gotta see effort on his part.
- Definitely bring it up again. Calmly say you noticed he's still not following through like he said he would. See how he responds this time. Is he sorry or does he get defensive? His reaction will say a lot.
- Ask him specifically what he's gonna do different. Not just empty "I'll do better" promises. Get details so you know he's actually thought about changing.
- Decide on a timeline. Tell him you need to see real changes in say, 2 weeks. If he's still not following through after that then you have your answer.
- Don't be afraid to break it off if he's not willing to put in the work. You deserve someone who makes you a priority.
I'd give him one more chance since it's still early, but keep your eyes open for him actually changing his actions this time. Your feelings are valid, don't let him just brush this off. Hope it works out!
Yeah, I’ll give him a week and if I don’t notice any changes, I’ll try bringing it up again. It’s just frustrating.
Ugh, I feel you 100%. Dealing with someone who keeps saying they'll change but doesn't is beyond frustrating.
I'd say give him like 3 more days tops after you bring it up again. Then that's really all the chances he deserves man. Any longer and you're just wasting your time you could be putting towards someone better.
Like come on, you told him straight up what you needed and he hasn't delivered at all yet. He clearly doesn't respect your feelings if a whole week goes by and no effort. You need a chick who's gonna show you you're a priority every day, dawg.
So say your piece again, lay out what you expect to see in the next couple days. Like asking how your classes are, making dinner plans, little things to show he's listening. And if crickets again, that's his real answer. Don't let him string you along further.
You're too good for that BS! Believe in yourself and don't settle. I know finding someone dope is out there for you. He's had enough time - don't give him any more of yours to waste. You got this
Lol…nothing has changed. He came back from work early and didn’t bother texting, calling or going out, he preferred to play videogames. I might talk to him again but I’m out of hope.
Dude, give me a break! Seriously, I'd be so done with his bullshit by now. Another chance and still nada? Time to face facts - this guy just doesn't care enough to change.
Playing games instead of texting you when he's home early? Low effort doesn't even cover it. He had his chances and blew them, so don't waste any more time hoping he'll morph into a different person somehow.
You've talked, you've waited - he gets an F for following through. This is who he is - a self-absorbed dude who won't prioritize you or meet your basic needs, even when you straight up tell him what's lacking.
Have some self-respect and leave his ass already! You're too good to be second choice to Call of Duty. Delete his number and use the time you saved to do things YOU enjoy. Bet you'll feel a huge weight off your shoulders once it's over.
You got this! Don't sell yourself short waiting for somebody who won't step up. Plenty more fish and all that. Go be free!
Did you ask him about his day?
i did. i always do.
