It all depends on communication and how each partner views the break. It needs to be discussed fully. Some people view it as just a little time apart to recharge. Some couples view it as putting the relationship and everything about it on hold to see if life outside the relationship is what they want and sometimes they come back together after a little while. I don't see a problem. Being on a break is like a free hall pass. You're essentially single. It means that you aren't in a committed relationship and are seeing what else life has to offer.

If it's a break than all bets are off. It does suck to hear about a rebound or fuck around merely to forget. From what I've seen and lived it doesn't work.
