+1 yIf you come from a good family you will have plenty of help. Because mom will be there to help you as much as she can. She understands. Dad will help too. Chances are dad will make sure you have reliable transportation like ALL dads should. Then if you have brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles……
Parents are very aware of the cost of living. They are also reminded daily that they raised a great daughter by watching you go to school, work and anything else you need to do to get to a point where you can slow down and maybe even start dating. Just don’t marry because you need financial help.
Life can look very frightening to a 20 something woman.
Raising a child (ern) with great friends and family behind you all the way doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. A lot of states have deadbeat dad laws on the books. If your baby daddy has a social security number floating around out there amongst all those 1’s and 0’s, the state will find it and a judge will see to it you get child support.
But, if you don’t have any of the above, you are shit out of luck.01 Reply- +1 y
It is very important that a single mom needs to take just as much care of herself as she does her child (ern). It is important for her to recognize if she is struggling with depression and to seek help or listen to those that see her moods are affecting her ability to be a strong mom. She must then take responsibility for her mental health and seek professional help and not just spiritual help. She needs to stay away from smoking, vaping, drugs and alcohol. All those are just poisoning her body and mind.

One was traumatized beyond fixing, struggled with every form of depression out there impacting both her mental and physical health. (Yet she was such a kind soul)
And one who seemed unphased by the whole thing. Grant it her and her daughter where younger and maybe she was putting on a front but she was a true fighter with a smile on her face.
So I would say it's something that can easily be traumatic if you let it but for those who are strong spirited it can go well as well.
For the child, however, history is not on their side. Being raised by a single parent leaves a huge gap in the growth that humans are supposed to have in our society.00 Reply
It shouldn’t, not if you love your children, and willing to see them have and be better in life. That pain is self inflicted because your priorities aren’t correct, your perspective isn’t either - to life, to being a single parent is not correct. Society put a pair of shameful glasses to tear yourself down, and others down. When I see a single parent, I admire them, the only thing that annoys me is when they feel the world ends being a single parents.
My greatest joy is seeing my children in front of my eyes everyday either when they behaving or not. All I can think about is that’s my child, F*k everybody else views.10 Reply

I wouldn’t dare consider breeding with them.
You’d have to choose an undesirable who can be tamed by you and dominated by you. A weakling. An Undesirable, no woman is looking at. In order to keep him in the family. But then breeding with him, will create little abominations due to bad genetics.
It’s; choose the wolves and become single moms. Or choose the chihuahuas, and create weak, undesirable, sickly children.
YOU CHOOSE 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

u +1 ySince I am not a female and have never experienced that, I can't answer the question with any certainty. Being a single parent of either sex is certainly a bigger challenge than a man and woman being parents together, but I don't think trauma is the right word.
00 Reply 1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. It's probably just like a single father. It happens you accept it and you deal with it and you raise your children to be the best they can possibly be it's not about you anymore it's about your children and what you want for them
30 Reply7.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic. It's definitely very difficult, but traumatic? That's not a word I'd use to describe it. My mother certainly didn't consider it traumatic for her.

@EmyyWolf: Well, if women are dumb enough to take advice from someone dumber than them (that would be you), they're going to get some really bad results. Because a person is raised by a single mom doesn't mean they're "fatherless". It just means that their mom wasn't dumb enough to try to foist her kids on some even dumber guy.
But keep making a fool of yourself- given that the US has the highest rate of children living in single parent households in the world, should women be dumb enough to take your idiotic advice, many find themselves without partners or stuck being a side piece. And you're condemning people to being unable to get partners through no fault of their own. Really brilliant, dumbass.
+1 yI think it's exhausting, not traumatizing, well it might be if people keep watching every move you and your kids make, (will they make a mistake? oh that's because they don't have a father, look her daughters are sluts, and her sons are drug dealers/thieves,..), but there are so many amazing women who did just fine, raised their kids well, despite people's shitty, pitty gossip.
I admire how strong and powerful they are.24 Reply- +1 y
You articulate that paridym in hopes that your right in judgement , but your wrong on this account about how the children are just fine under the umbrella of single motherhood. All may seem fine in retrospect , but some very necessary components are missing in each child's life that can't be clouded or artificially manipulated to make right.

You're 💯 right, I ADORE my father and can't imagine the rest of my life without him, it's a blessing that I'll forever be grateful for, but the question here isn't about kids, it's about single mothers.
- +1 y
So that may be. Although , a woman's plight in her biological nature isn't about being single at any time raising children unless certain circumstances prevail beyond her ability to bond at at all cost with the father/significant other. Is she a reconciling her children back towards the father or holding contention and using the children to do warfare against the father is the better question of a single mother.
+1 yIt depends. If you have a job, you can pay your bills and cover daycare for your kid/s, then it's bearable. Especially if you have friends and family who can support you.
It's a different story if you have nothing to rely on... then it's hella traumatic, for all, you and kid/s10 Reply
+1 yI don’t think I’ve ever heard that from the single moms I’ve known, my own mother included. I have heard that it’s tough and often times overwhelming but that’s true of a lot of things in life.
I have heard a few women say they think being a single father is harder, but that’s a different post entirely I suspect.00 Reply990 opinions shared on Relationships topic. You get lots of extra free assistance from the government.
You get sympathy from many women.
You have almost no decent options for a long term relationship.
Most convicted criminals and suicides are from single mother households in the USA.
00 Reply794 opinions shared on Relationships topic. Not at all. How you raise them is what matters. I've noticed an unhealthy trend of single parents putting all their emotions into their kids which makes them self centered and not respect the parent which can make the parent miserable but that really is the case with a two parent scenario, it's just not seen as an issue then for some reason

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI know a single mother who is 32 with two boys aged 5 & 3.
She finds it hard with a 40 hour week job and she looks so tired all the time.
Another friend is 43 with kids that age with a husband & I remember her telling me a few months ago she's aways tired.
So imagine my single friend without a partner.
Choose wisely if you want to be a single parent. You've got 20 years of it.

+1 yNot really.. Or should I say not necessarily.. It's difficult but it's not traumatic.. Especially if you have help even if it's not from the father..
00 Reply It's extremely hard. I never believed on staying together for the kids BUTZ THE NEWBORN STAGE YOU WILL NEED HELP!!
00 ReplyObviously it is. It means being alone and without the man in the house.
But will it always be disadvantageous, of course not. And single moms have a right to remarry and enjoy life too. It's not wrong
00 Reply- 3.3K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
+1 yProbably depends upon the specifics. Recently married, pregnant, and husband dies in an accident? Very likely. Planned and has the resources to raise the child without assistance? Probably not. There are of course almost endless scenarios.
00 Reply not more than the kid of that mother especially if he is a boy.

00 ReplyOnly single mothers can answer this question correctly. As a single man with no kids, I can say that it isn't hard but sometimes single men or women or single moms or dads feel lonely and helpless.

00 ReplyIt is difficult without doubt and some single mothers might feel trauma, that however is a word that gets used too commonly nowadays. I don't think by definition it causes trauma.
