What are ways to cheer up a guy friend going through a hard time?

My friend is going through a hard time and I want to cheer him up. Any ideas?

Plan a day out full of his favourite things! Fun things that you know will cheer him up!


What does he like doing? Is he into sports, movies, art, bushwalks, animals, etc. whatever it is base your day out around those things.


For example if it’s animals go to the zoo, sport go play golf or mini golf, art go to museums, or other things like going for a picnic that you’ve packed and put in some fun games to play in the park, then have a movie night at your place after with lots of junk food.


Keep the day fun, full of light hearted activities to keep busy and his mind off things!

In all honesty I’d say just let him be. Sure he may get a laugh or two or a smile from whatever you try to do for him to cheer him up. But whatever he’s going through he needs to figure it out. That ultimately will of course make things better. When men have things going on a lot of times it’s best to just let us be quiet, to figure out what’s going on. A lot of times what a man is going through isn’t something women can really help w. Men more than women understand that it’s me, I need to figure this out cause no one is going to save me, I have to save myself. I’d say just let him know you’re there if he wants to talk. Maybe bring him a little food. But in reality a lot of wheat men go through isn’t what women go through, w a few exceptions.

Be supportive in whatever way that may be helpful for him such as emotionally there for him, making him laugh and do silly things together, do something he likes I. e. gaming, taking shots, biking, etc., or give him space if he needs it and let him know you’re there be when he’s ready to talk about it

Usually when my friend is going through anything, food is always a best fix. Whether it’s going out to eat or coming over with some treats. I don’t like to force someone to tell me their whole life but simply reminding my friend that I’m there if they need anything even a listening ear is important.

Listen to him talk and be there for him physically. Hug him, buy him coffee , run your hand through his hair if he’s laying down on your lap. Make him feel secure and appreciated. Don’t joke around too much. If he’s taking it seriously you better as well.
