What makes it so hard for women to leave an abusive relationship?

Well abusive people tend to lack empathy. And those people tend to be manipulative for obvious reasons. Abuse usually happens slowly one step at the time. By the time you are deep in it he has most likely made you loose most people close to you. Either by making you think they aren't good or making them think bad stuff about you. So now you are left with only him. Also many abusers tend to be popular from what I've heard. So if he has turned your whole family and relatives against you and he has a bunch of people supporting him.. its not that easy.

People with NPD do this and its common, more than you'd think. But there are moments where of course people can leave but they don't.

I don’t think the issue is that it’s hard for them to leave, I think it’s that they depended on someone for so long they don’t know how to survive on their own. So they go back.

I guess that these days it's very easy for a woman to leave a relationship without even having any reason, they just quit like that!
