My boyfriend drove me to school and I offered gas money and he took it. is it bad of me to feel weird about that?

It was an hour and a half drive and know I offered and I should be paying him. He always says he’d do anything for me and all he needs is the time spent with me and doesn’t care about money, but this time he took it and told me how much I should give. Am i overreacting and being ungrateful?
