Why is my boyfriend so sensitive?

My boyfriend hates it when I … ‘put words in his mouth’ I don’t mean to but it just happens. This isn’t the first time this has happen. Every time we counter this he gets upset and doesn’t want to talk to me. I don’t see the big deal. I asked him if he’d like to go to dinner with my family (he’s met them before) he said yeah but later that day he told me someone is coming to his house to mount his TV’s so he might not make it. I told him if he didn’t want to hang out with my family he should’ve said so. Then he got upset that I ‘keep putting words in his mouth if thats not what he said’ because it’s making to seem like he’s the bad guy -and like that stopped talking to me. Why is he so sensitive?

Accusing him of not liking her parents when that is not what he said is pretty serious stuff. I have a hard time believing you would be cool with your girlfriend twisting your words like that regularly. And she is being completely dismissive and pulling the 'he's too sensitive' card? 'I don't mean to it just happens' That's her idea of being accountable? Na, fuck that.

@spartan55 it's not because he said it out loud , but his actions speak for it.. if I did exactly what she described I'd not be surprised at all if my girlfriend thought I didn't like them.. and like I said I wouldn't overreact neither and stop talking to her for a while and stuff.. I'd just tell her yes I hate hanging around with them or no and give a simple explanation.. no need to be over dramatic and emotional !..

His actions? How about he forgot about the person coming to help hang his TV and it had nothing to do with her parents. If this were a one off I'd agree that he overeacted. But it seems like a persistent thing that she won't even acknowledge. I bet nothing is ever her fault.

I appreciate that. There is blame on my side as well. No one ever gets married thinking they will get divorced. I won't completely rule out getting married again, but she is going to have to be quite a special lady.
