I do... but I also realize that 1) It's not always in romantic relationships 2) It may not be exactly as planned, but if you can learn to be happy with more than one or two narrow options, then it's possible. 3) Everyone does not end up with "happy ever after," even if they seem to deserve it. Sometimes the assh*l*s get happily ever after, and the innocent people who are great people just get hurt and abused.

I used to hope for a great romantic relationship; a great, happy, reasonably successful marriage. Not perfection. Maybe a few kids who'd grow up to be great adults.

I'm getting older. I haven't had a date in years. Any time I ask a woman out, she's usually pretty mean about it. It's not a no, but it's a "no" with "go F yourself, loser." So I don't know if it's in the cards. But I'm still trying for the life that I don't hate with work. I'd still hate it if I never had a relationship, but if I died having done something I liked, it will be more worthwhile than hating most of my life because I couldn't find work, and couldn't date, and not having real friends and lived on assistance all my life.

“Happily Ever After”, no.
Some bad folks go to Hell, some good folks go to Heaven… How those good/bad folks acted on Earth probably gave Hell/Heaven to others taking away or giving a happily ever after.

To believe in that would mean everyone gets it which I do not, being a believer / practitioner of the religion or faith you preach isn’t an automatic either neither is being an atheist. If you do good then you go to Heaven, if you do then you go to Hell in my idea.

Haha no. Life is up and down and nob9dy can be satisfied or happy always. I guess you can have a blessed ever after? If everything goes well and you don't lose anything. Have love, family, job, house. Everything you need. But you will still get days of apathy. Its what drives us onwards to new goals and new wants in life after all.

While I would love to believe in a happily ever after, that's just not real life. Your relationships are going to have a lot of trials and tribulations. Some marriages will end in divorce and some won't but will go through a lot of hell. There will be good days but there will also be bad days.

It takes work, time, energy and commitment, usually on an ongoing basis, even in cases where people are an excellent match right from the start and know it. Those don't come from nowhere.

Pfft, no. It's great for ending a fairytale, but not for real life. There are no fairytale endings irl, it's all hard work, self control, understanding boundaries, and communication. Life has arguements, it has issues with finding compromise, it has way too many "too good to be true"s, and too many toxic human factors.
