Do you believe in life after love?

Do you believe that after experiencing true love, there's still another happy life waiting for us? A new love? Can you really love more than once?

Sometimes, I play "Ask Me a Question" with friends. Some questions touch on relationship topics. By answering or reading others' answers, I realized that I've become very protective of myself. Questionable choices made in the past by a potential partner have become deal breakers for me.

Maybe it's a stage of healing after a relationship breakup... or perhaps no man will ever be a safe harbor for me again...

Yes. It has happened to me. And I know lots of other people who have fallen in love again.

I loved one girlfriend with my heart and soul. Petra loved me, too. She was an extraordinary woman. We lived together for over a year. But, as it turned out, we could not have made it as life long partners. We separated for reasons that are complicated, but had nothing to do with cheating or anything mean.

For months afterward, I had a constant feeling of being kicked in the gut. At times I was almost nauseous. Sometimes when I was alone I would double over and bawl.

It took me over a year to pull myself together and move on with life.

A couple years later, I met my future wife. We've been married now for almost 27 years, had LOTS of fun, and build a wonderful life together. I love her with all my heart.

Petra found me on Facebook years later. We even spoke on the phone a few times. Five years after that, I read that she had died from a sudden medical problem at the age of 55. I was devastated.

I still love her and will never forget her. But that doesn't detract from how much I love my wife.

Incredible pure form of loving, I hope most people have this attitude because to me if people want someone who truly deeply loves them they have to accept they may hold similar love for someone else. True love doesn't go away, but it also indeed doesn't detract for the true love for someone new.

I definitely believe in life after love. I feel like this is time I need to spend loving myself and healing. And I honestly feel like I want to enjoy the rest of my life without getting into another relationship lol. I truly see a happy, peaceful, single life ahead. But maybe that's just how I feel now, but the feeling is real nonetheless.

Hi, fellow spirit xx for me each and every time life after love through my years at upmost now... i would say my self love leading to an evolution inside myself... i always feel energised and alive, a regeneration... i came across a short video that randomly the universe let me come across, the person said, if in a relationship you feel that you are on a journey of learning and evolving and thats where you need to go, if the person you love isn't the one to do it with you and you know it or with that or even want to try for you, for themselves, then im sorry but i need to trust in myself and you are not part of that journey and i have to free myself and be authentic with myself... and leave... the leaving is also love, for oneself and actually the other too because its authentic and truthful to do so... she loves the boy more than the girl in the mirror! such a great line from a country song..

I think true love is much like the unicorn. Mythical but someone we all desire to see. I was once “in love” I thought…. Then she crushed me like a bug. Never felt that way ever again but I have loved others. When I look back I realize what I thought was “true love” was more of an illusion than reality. When you look around the world at other relationships what you see is true lust that after a couple of years turns into a type of love and tolerance or it turns to shit. Lust, security, loneliness is what drives people together. I know I sound so cynical but to be with someone you enjoy being with, sharing your life with that person is a great thing no matter what you call it.
And yes this thing called love can be enjoyed with someone else after your heart gets broke. It’s like a growing pain… I believe it’s like your baby teeth falling out, What replaces them isn’t the same but work just as good.

@fuddly since that time I have had several new relationships. They were never like the one that broke my heart, but they all have been good. It’s my belief that you need your heart broke once so you can see the world clearly. We want to believe in true love, soul mates and unicorns…. Those are not real but what is real is still beautiful, and enjoyable.
To answer your question I was married to her for 2 years when she broke my heart.
I have met almost everyone I’ve ever dated online. I have never thought that to be the best way but now days it’s almost the only way. Never on dating sites though…. I go to places where people share ideas and/or common interests. Dating sites are garbage.

Considering I gained and lost the most incredible relationship and love imaginable I do believe that yes. Eventually after enough time my natural state increased to the level of happiness I was before the relationship. Of course I am happier in general when I am in a relationship on that level, but I'm still enjoying my life and hopeful ill gain a new relationship on that level when the time is right.
