Does it get on your nerves? Then if you tell them, they quit saying it. đ¤ˇđźââď¸

+1 yYes they can and if they do it means you arenât exactly compatible. Or at the least: the energy and level of passion/ affection is not mutual.
Well clearly, right? If one is saying wayyy more than the other. The one saying it more- IF GENUINE! âď¸- means it more. Than the one who is not saying it as much, or at all, or gets annoyed by the previous oneâs âenthusiasm.â
If one has trust issues, they can also be unfamiliar or unaccustomed to hearing âI love you.â At all or so much, that they will feel cynical of the otherâs emotions and if itâs true, that they really love them.
If one finds joy in complex activities or deep thought. Repetition could be a trigger and the words could feel shallow at a point.
This could be especially so if they have different love languages and itâs not at all in verbal or affirmation and such.
I just think while there can be some reasons for this disconnect or aggravation/ tension for one, it mostly would mean or indicate (in my opinion) that theyâre not compatible or equally excited about each other and the relationship.
When all GOES WELL- you can never say âI LOVE YOU.â Enough.
It is an overused phrase in some places and by certain people, so that could potentially make things challenging or so, but the term itself is expressively endearing so it being said is being affectionate (AGAIN- when genuine) so it shouldnât ever really be a problem amongst lovebirds.

+1 yMy boyfriend used to get annoyed because he thought I said I love you too much.
I think itâs just different ways of being brought up. Every time I ended a call or left the house or said goodnight to my parents I always told them I loved them and them to me. Even if I was just going upstairs. I donât think he was the same even though he has a very nice family. So I guess Iâm just used to saying it often and heâs not. He claimed it loses meaning when you say it so much but I just prefer to let people know and also because you never know what is going to happen.11 Reply- +1 y
Same! This is a good point. For some it can be selective and for others it can be generously expressed.
For some it can be comfortable and habitual and for others it can be somewhat foreign uncomfortable or being unaccustomed to. But at least he knows what love is right? So itâs good those who donât hear it said to them can still understand that this thing rarely heard is usually a good thing. đ
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yGirl I grew up with and we were childhood friends/sweethearts, i was kind of short a bit shorter than her. Anyway she was 14 and I was 15. I had been away from January to September as my Dad had a job abroad for a few months and by the time I came back puberty had hit us both.
I had grown from 5ft something to 6ft2 and she was still the same height and I literally towered over. Though puberty didn't miss her as she had grown giant tits too big for her skinny frame.
We had always been friends and had talked on the phone every week but it was obvious to both of us that we weren't going to be just friends anymore from our kind of shy embarrassed conversation, her marvelling at my height, me checking her boobs out and then my embarrassing erection and her teasing me about it. She saw me for the first time as a man an I her as a woman.
We dated until she went off to college. Probably the best time of my life and probably the best sex I ever had.

+1 yA few times a day would suffice. Repeating it several times an hour would make me sick of it.
When I had someone, I'd tell her first thing in the morning, a while later when we'd go our separate ways for the day, probably again when we met up again, most likely at least once more during the day and then last thing at night. Also at least once when we'd fuck. That's plenty.00 Reply

+1 yMy partner use to say it a lot when we were away from each other. It did sorta bother me because I knew he loved me but he kept saying so all the time. Do I stopped and only said it back in moments that I felt were necessary to do so. He caught on after a week.

+1 yYes. The girlfriend who I dated for 3 years said it far too much. The way it was said and the times it was said, were real creepy to me and I found it to be annoying most of the time. It wasn't coming from a good place and it seemed to arise from clinginess and insecurity. I know it might sound mean of me to say this, but if you were there you'd probably agree. It was weird.
00 Reply Yes they can say it too much when their actions don't match the words.
Think about it this way, if you say you love me, but then nag me to change, you don't love me, you love the person you think I can be, so hearing you say you love me becomes upsetting over time.

10 Reply2.7K opinions shared on Relationships topic. If it's meaningful, I'm fine with it -- when I say something, I mean it and I'd expect an SO to be the same... If it's just logorrhea (saying it just to say it or to fill the void) then there's no point to it.

10 Reply1.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. If they say it all the time , they are simply needy and pathetic , its not real , the problem is with people who do this.. it can be said FAR too often , for sure , anyone who does this has a problem.

10 ReplyYes, smothering is a real thing. If you're not on the same page as your partner, you're going to be uncomfortable with how little/how often they express love. It's a sign.

The thing is, that when we first started saying I love you too each other, and I would say it back to him, it scared him off and I wouldn't hear from him for days. So I told him "You know I love you even if I don't say it cause I don't want to scare you off again".
I wasn't being one of those women you
describe, but I didn't want to scare him off either. He never complained because he knew he was like that.
If he was still alive I would love to say I love you back 100 times a day. But now I can't even say it anymore cause he died 7 months ago. - +1 y
