It seems kind of like people are assigning a mystical quality to dating and relationships, or some sort of "it's fate" spin to it. I believe this is simply not the case, and it is entirely possible to dodge love your entire life if you try hard enough, are just plain unlucky, or have unobtainable standards.

On top of that, dating seems to have changed these days. Of everyone alive today, a fraction of them will pass away single. This is also the reason I think it's important to find meaning in your life in some other way, rather than beat yourself up over your situation.

That being said, I think relationships are definitely a way to spice up your life as well as someone else's. People should take them seriously and be mature about what they want, communicating and having fun with it. As someone who is frequently single, it irritates me seeing people with a lackadaisical attitude about it-- cheating and abusing their partners for instance.

My uncle, who when I was growing up was awesome. He was so talented, good looking, and had such a great persona about him. Everyone he met liked him, and I'm not just saying that because I am biased. He made the decision to look after his parents into their old age over his own happiness.

The trouble was, once his mum and dad had passed away he felt he was too old to meet anyone, so he died alone. I couldn't even get to the hospital in time to be with him when he passed as it was so sudden.

I think everyone deserves to find someone, but not everyone does for a multitude of different reasons.

Disagree. That’s just the fantasy we tell ourselves. First, to reassure ourselves in times of loneliness. Second, so we feel less inclined to wallow in the pity for people who are tragically ugly, disabled or disfigured. Yeah, y’know those people you refuse to look at for more than half a second, mostly because you can’t. Nobody else can either. i think all people who are physically and mentally normal can find love, but if they have any issues, whether that's fair or not, they could have a more difficult time. even then, some will and some won't, i've seen some pretty unlikely couples and i've seen some people who have never gotten together with anyone
