What do you do when your boyfriend yells at you so loud and yells over you trying to say something and he won't let you?

One time my boyfriend yelled so loud and I couldn't get a word in edgewise.
So, I yelled at him one time during that screaming match and this is what I said.
"When you won't let me talk, you are taking away my First Amendment Rights and you can't do that. I have a right to speak.
And you know what? He shut up and let me talk!

Because men tend to talk in 1 or two sentence chunks, while we tend to want to make an entire point. A lot of times, women will include topics that add depth of feeling to a point, but no actual direct relevance.

Example:
Guys debating:
Guy 1: The 2005 Eagles were the best team ever.
Guy 2: Have you not seen the Stats for the LA Raiders?
etc. Note how they give each other time to retort.

Women vs. Guys:
Guy: I think we should hire 500 cops to arrest all these shoplifters and make the city safe again.
Woman: starts in on a 30 minute diatribe on how cops are mean misogynist racists, and there was this one cop in Alabama who beat a guy half to death, and then there's the guns. Guns are very problematic and her cousin became a cop and he ended up getting fired for taking bribes...

The guy thinks from minute one that everything she is saying is a house of cards built on bad stats and misinformation, and he DOESN'T want to listen to 30 minutes of crap based on a false foundation.

So they interrupt. That's their style. 10,000 words does not make our arguments more correct, only more annoying.

Imagine if he spends the time silently listening to you and at the end, he just answers, "Every bit of that was crap."

That's what he did. He went to an empty apartment that someone we knew had just moved out of. He let me know where he was and decided to stay there overnight. He came back to borrow a candle and a lighter from me because there was no electricity.
In the early hours of the next morning, he died suddenly. He was all alone and without a cellphone.

The Medical Examiner told me early that morning the candle was still burning.

If he hadn't gone to that apartment to cool off and have some alone time, he would have died in our apartment and I would have been the one to find him dead.

I thank God that I was spared from seeing him dead, and waiting for the Cororner to arrive, and to witness them carrying him out on a gurney.

He had never ever yelled at me in the 7 years we were together and just started the yelling a few days before he died. So maybe something was going on with him that even he didn't know about. ?

I believe when a married couple are having an intense argument, someone must cool down so that the other can give a proper explanation...

Or both to take some time away from each other such as sitting in a different room or stop talking to each othee until both cools down to make a civilized discussion...

Also a wife would be aware of her husband attitude...

For example i'm a highly tempered man, if i was married, my wife would stoo arguing eith me instantly or give me a kiss and a hug out of nowhere to cool me down than she will tell me that we will talk later and if not she will back off until i calm down cause if she raises her voice on me or started throwing threats than i might become dangerous and i'm not this type of men, i try my best to not make something wrong that i will regret later!

An intelligent wife or girlfriend knows how to treat her other half!

Lol. Love how you used the 1st Ammendment as your argument. I would of paused at your ingenuity. Thing is, in yelling matches, nothing ever gets worked out and nobody is ever heard, but we love the heated argument as it makes us feel alive.

I would turn my back on him as he's crossing one of my boundaries. Me and my Husband do not shout at each other even when we're arguing. I do not tolerate anyone else raising their voices at me other than my parents or my Husband. Whoever does it will be informed that they're crossing one my boundaries I do not shout at anyone so I don't expect to be shouted at either. The way you say things can have a huge impact and yelling is not the way.

Usually arguments start for a reason. You left out all the details. For all I know you accused your boyfriend of something highly offensive (to him) and he snapped. Everybody has their limit.

If you don't like the situation than stop being with him. It's not rocket science.

I bet you would love it if you could call the cops every time he said a word you don't like. That's where society is headed... and there won't be too many guys willing to put up with it.

No, actually he was hard of hearing and thought I said something else but he wouldn't give me a chance to explain, so he just kept yelling.

And no, I would never call the cops on him. I loved him with all my ❤️ heart right up until he died suddenly 9 months ago.

I end the conversation when anyone starts yelling. If you can't talk to me like an adult then we won't. Yelling and tantrums are for kids.

Haha, the poor guy turned on the T. V at night and the screen was blue, he was confused and went out to check his sat on the roof, he found nothing, he saw miss dish getting out of the building holding a sat with her...

The guy shouted: where are you taking my sat?

Miss dish replied: isen't it a dish? Well yes its is, THAN IT'S MINE! All the dish channels are mine!

Suddenly miss dish vanished and the guy was left confused sitting doing nothing 🥴

By the way, after you prayed for me something that will really help me in my life was approved. It was a total surprise. I even told the lady when she was giving me the good news "I can feel God's hand in this, it was no accident that I was connected to you and you helped me so much". That's what I told her.
