I think it depends on the dynamic of the marriage (I say marriage because I believe paying someone’s bills is a spouse privilege). If she’s a stay at home wife/mom, then I’d say no it’s not wrong for her to not be paying bills, because she’s not bringing in any income. If she is bringing in income, then I’d say she should contribute towards something that will benefit the household, whether it be groceries, utilities, or supplementing savings or other expenses.

Every relationship is different, but you need to decide what kind of relationship you want, and you need to accept that certain types of relationships come with one set of privileges and responsibilities, and others types come with different privileges and responsibilities.

If you want a more traditional relationship with kids and for your wife to stay home with them and raise them until they are in school full time, then the husband needs to be able to pay all the bills, at least until the kids are in school full time.

If you want a "modern" relationship where both have careers, then both need to be contributing to all the shared costs.

Either way, both people will have to make some sacrifices and will gain some benefits just different ones.
