In short, no. Social interaction is a basic necessity of all humans and most if not all animals.

Longer version: you actually need multiple types of friends and acquaintances in your life, from passive interactions with strangers, basic friends, closer friends, and a permanent family unit. It is not psychologically healthy or beneficial to isolate, or restrict your interactions to just one group. There's probably a better way to explain this, but I can personally attest that shutting basically everyone out of your life and focusing solely on your own needs and desires may bring some short lived satisfaction, but can lead to a lingering feeling of unfulfillment or depression after a variable amount of time.

No kind of life is a panacea. This trade-offs to having relationships with other people. You have to give up a lot. On the other hand relationships can be fulfilling too. The classical wisdom is that people are social and have to have interactions with others to be happy. I've lived both lives and to tell you the truth I'm not sure which one is better.

I can't say that I have NO friends, but I also don't need a gaggle of friends either. I have a few people I love REALLY deeply... the rest of the people I know I would consider acquaintances (for work or school or social groups/projects, etc.).
