Do women really think this way? Particularly a woman who is at least 36? Have you ever seen a man ask “why would an ex girlfriend avoid saying hi when he’s with his new girlfriend?” This has to be one of the top 3 dumbest questions asked this week.

Let me spell it out for you since it’s taken you some time to figure it out:

Amicable or not, one of either your ex or yourself (most likely him) has some hurt and conflicted feelings about the split. In reality it’s almost always that way regardless of how the relationship seemingly ended. That’s why there needs to be boundaries.
Your ex is not your friend. No. He may be friendly, “amicable” and cordial. He sounds like a gent. But he’s not nor ever will be your “friend”. Why should he be anyway? Do you think he wants to see and hear about your new relationship? You sound like the type who would brainlessly talk about that to him too.
Your new boyfriend would be uncomfortable seeing meeting your ex as well. Your ex spared both him and himself from that awkward moment.
Your ex owes you nothing. Zilch. No “feel good bond” or bs. That doesn’t mean he should ever be rude. But you are much more likely to trigger bad memories if you run into then vice versa.

I still can’t believe you asked a question like this. You got a real entitlement issue. You put zero effort into how about anybody else truly feels in that scenario except yourself. Sounds like you expect a “feel good fantasy world” where everything goes the way you expect it to.

Depends on why you both broke up in the first place? Did you break up with him? it’s usually hard for an ex to see an ex with someone new , especially if they didn’t want to break up to begin with. So by him seeing you with your new boyfriend made him hurt and angry inside is my guess

Why are you still on friendly terms with your ex boyfriend?

Unless you guys have a child and he has to pay for child support, there is no reason to keep exes as friends. They aren't friends and definitely aren't going to be happy about hearing about your new relationship and the wonderful quality times. Neither would your new boyfriend be happy about you being friendly and talking a lot with your ex.

In terms of people in your life, there are the present-day people and those in the past. Those in the past (your ex) are yesterday's news, to be discarded. They don't contribute anything in your life, nothing. Those are in the present (new boyfriend) are the ones you should be focusing on.
