1 yI'd just say it's oversimplified and relationships are about both parties putting in full effort for the sake of the other person. I don't think any one person takes priority. My thought is it's something that's directed at guys, because it's easy for guys to remember and implement. I am not implying that guys are simple, just that it is helpful to have a quick line to recall rather than a twenty-minute dissertation on remembering to give a woman some attention, you know? But no, I don't think guys should just roll over and do whatever their wife wants in an attempt to make her happy.
Love helps us prioritize. He should keep tabs on if she is getting enough rest, taking time out for herself, and just showing basic awareness and concern over her welfare. Guys get obsessive over guns, trucks and football teams. If they directed a little of that passion toward their girl's success and well-being, it can really make a difference in her morale.
So I kind of agree, but I think it's incomplete and not an absolute. I possibly disagree in certain contexts, because there are some women who cannot be made happy, period, and that's just reality. Just my thoughts on it... :)

It's a long and mixed review of a cliche. It's partially true but it's supposed to be a line about reciprocity (that both the guy and the girl are happy and fulfilled). Like everything else, it's been twisted over time (so that folks think it's about prioritizing the woman). There's more but I'll stop there.

Appreciate it 😊 And from the little you've said, I agree
The saying "Happy wife, happy life" captures the idea that a harmonious relationship often hinges on mutual contentment and support. While it emphasizes the importance of a wife's happiness, a balanced perspective should include both partners' well-being. Healthy relationships thrive on mutual respect, communication, and shared effort to meet each other's needs. Focusing solely on one partner's happiness can lead to imbalance and neglect of the other's needs. A more inclusive approach might be "Happy spouse, happy house," underscoring that both partners' happiness is essential for a fulfilling and harmonious relationship.

1 yNo, I would prefer happy spouse, happy house. It sounds better and it revolves on both spouses and instead of just one. Because both spouses deserve to be happy with each other and to be loved by each other. Both deserve the love and care they'll have for each other.

so, ask yourself, in minimally important differences-of-opinion, is 'winning' a disagreement MORE important than the prolonged ill will resulting from a bullied dominance outcome? ... Whom is the MORE 'mature' adult in YOUR coupling?

1 yMost unhappy women are unhappy because of what they know about themselves. These unhappy women than project their unhappiness onto their man. The man scrambles to make her "happy", but this simply isn't possible. She has to fix her happiness by doing self reflection and taking accountability. Unfortunately, most women would rather destroy their marriages and families rather than do serious introspection.
50 Reply No, because it suggests that a man's happiness is not important, which is usually the mindset of women that you should not marry. A woman that genuinely cares about you will want to see you happy too.

1 yThis is a complex web but in short, no. The phrase objectifies wives to be objects, rather than a person and reduces their role as someone who cleans, cooks, and is active in the bedroom. Well, that is my three cents.

1 yHappy spouse, happy house. If she help contribute to my happiness, and I do with her, that’s important. And not everything is going to be perfect and happy all the time, but contributing to an overall happiness… that’s what I would look for.
10 Reply 1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Broadly yes and in the reverse as well. Probably people want/expect their partner to make them happy but unlikely if they are not happy in themselves.
In other words you are expected to fix them. That is not going to work out.

1 yGenerally yes… however it should not be one sided. Wife also has a duty to live and support her husband so both needs to be on the same page to succeed

1 yI'm sure someone is going to call me a simp, but I agree. Making the people you love happy usually makes you happy, too. To me, that's all it means.
13 Reply- 1 y
I don't think you're a simp at all. I just think that a woman's happiness isn't tied to catering to them. Some women are happier when they are treated with some contempt and even aggression. Some want to be dominated. Some even want to be outright abused. Therapy would help the latter, but simping to them will absolutely make them sick and hate you. It's really all about knowing your wife and what drives her, internally.

@BetaBucks I agree, but a lot of guys seem to think "happy wife, happy life" means that the man's happiness doesn't matter at all, and I guess you could take it that way, but that isn't what I think of when I hear it.

1 yI don't entirely agree with the saying, what if trying to make her happy all the time, he's miserable and never gets a break?
I think both partners have to be happy with how things are going in the relationship, so it's not all one way.
