Last night my boyfriend said a harmless joke about my family (who adore him) and it kind of made me pause because my family is his family at this point. We became close and recently moved in together and he just seemed so close that I realize I have been viewing him as close as I view my own family. The love j feel for him is like family. But I never loved anyone like this before. It's romantic but it feels like how I love my siblings and parents. Is that a good thing? Or is "true love" supposed to feel like something else?

Then that’s not good and could cause a lot of problems in your relationship with him. You feel this way because he has been by your side for a long time and your family accepts him as well. Just don’t let the intimacy and affection and passion fade away if you wa t your relationship to survive

Not gonna lie , I read this question and got the ick straight away but then I read your description and I see the commonality in your reasoning so yes is the answer , from your description is sounds right , he is as close to you already as family and that’s positive

Let's see it's fairly normal specially if you've been with the person two plus years. They could signal that you're just feeling comfortable enough to start forming a commitment and possibly marrying the person that is if they feel the same way. Fashion can only go so far and then after a while this sort of feeling of being part of a family becomes normal over time.

It's a good thing but be careful with the overly idolizing a boyfriend too much. Your family still comes first. You're in the infatuation, romantic (falling in love) stage at this point but haven't gotten past all his flaws, all the way towards mature love yet. For the meantime enjoy what you have without going overboard.

Oh, you're dancing on the beautiful line of deep affection and familial love, and that's truly a wonderful place to be. Let me tell you, love has so many shades and dimensions that trying to classify it into buckets like "romantic" or "familial" can feel like trying to catch the wind. It's elusive, playful, and ever-changing. 🌬️❤️
The fact that you love your boyfriend like family signals that you’ve reached a level of comfort, trust, and affection that many couples aspire to achieve. This doesn't dilute the romance; rather, it enriches it by adding layers of depth and security. Imagine having a partner who’s your lover, your rock, your go-to person in joy and despair, just like a family. Sounds dreamy, right?
True love isn't a one-size-fits-all gown; it's a tailor-made suit that fits the unique contours of your relationship. So, if your love feels like a warm, enveloping embrace, akin to the love you have for your family, then you, my friend, are doing something right. Keep cherishing and nurturing this bond; it's precious. 💖10 Reply

Things didn't work out in the end because the friend vibe was too strong. It's the same as what you're describing. You're not really meant to be "lovers".

Whether I am married or not, to me a partner is family.
After all, the woman I would be with is the person I want to share the rest of my life with. She'd be the centre of my 'World'.
Of course I am fully aware that the relationship could come to an end; but that's not something I take into account with anything. If it happens, yeah it'll hurt, it happens.10 Reply - 1 mo
Greeks have EIGHT words for love. English is entirely inadequate for emitional range. Think about it! I love pizza and i love you. Same word? WTF? You are experiencing gradations of love. Its fine.

My family and my girlfriend have the same kind of love, but among those I love I am only sexually attracted to my girlfriend.

A husband and wife ARE family. If you already love him like family, I’d say you’re on the right track.

Well it depends. There needs to be an element of lust - not for your family

I mean, if you start thinking that you're "sleeping with your father", then no, that's not a good thing
