Because sadly a lot of people can’t handle the truth , so most people sugarcoat it the best way they can , to make things seem like it’s not that big of a deal to the other person , so basically , they don’t want to suffer the consequences of their actions. So finding someone that is completely honest with you, is sadly hard to come by. They are out there, but sadly it’s a chance we all take when meeting someone new. Me personally prefers to be honest because I don’t want to mislead or lie to someone that I really like and that I want to be closer to , I want them to be open and honest to me the same way I am to them. Sadly a lot of people assume things and they usually assume the worst case scenario , mainly because of social media or shit they experienced in a previous relationship with someone else , so they protect themselves from having that happen to them again. Why I no longer jump onto a relationship with a girl because the ones I did jump into a relationship with , all turned out to be liars and backstabbers , so I prefer taking things slow before committing to someone completely, FWB’s with some strings attached has been the best road for me with a girl , to give us both time to really get to know each other before committing to each other 100’ percent , one thing I have experienced in previous relationships , was lack of honesty from girls’ that didn’t tell me things until she got really comfortable with me , to the point she felt like she had me locked in and started being honest about things she kept from me , basically putting me on the spot on whether I should stay with her or leave her. So it’s better for people to be honest right from the start , because most truth doesn’t come out until later down the road. And people wonder why they can’t last in a relationship , it’s because they are selfish and not honest

I can’t stand being lied to but there’s also a part of me that understands why people lie. I was a big liar throughout my childhood but it served as protection from my unreasonable and unpredictable mom. Most people say they want honesty but when they get it they blow up, who wants to be honest with someone who’s just going to lash out. And I can’t lie women especially have a habit of lashing out I myself have been guilty. in reality most don’t actually want truth they just want their ego stroked. I think it comes from a place of good intentions. The person might have tried sharing the truth in past but got a ton of crap for it. Maybe they know you'd be sympathetic but they don't want to burden you with their problems. Maybe they're worried that if they can't sort their shit out, you will see their situation and think less of them.

People want to please others. Most lies I think are "comforting" lies to make people feel better. The next batch of lies are those that are self serving. The last bit are people who just can't say the truth because they enjoy lying.
