u 1 yI have never had either of them, and all that I know is based on what others have told me.
In a friends with benefits arrangement, SOMETIMES both partners are candid and sincere, have no hidden agenda, and they both get what they need from the relationship. However, the more frequently you have casual sex with commitment or attachment, the more you will come to view sex as a recreational act rather than as an expression of love between you caring partners.
And sometimes, in a friends with benefits, at least one of the partners agrees to the arrangement because they secretly want more than just friends with benefits, and they hope that feelings will blossom and the relationship will become serious, committed, and long term. And too often, such a relationship ends with that person being hurt and feeling betrayed.
A "situationship" usually suggests a relationship that has such deep or apparent flaws that almost anyone else would have already broken up, but for whatever reason, you have remained together and are too embarrassed to tell others the truth about the mess in which you are immersed.

3.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. They are two VERY different things with a very different set of benefits and responsibilities. The big problem is that too many people get confused (or are in denial) about what they are going to get out of each, and what they will have to do and give. That's where things go wrong.
There is also the problem that people get into one thing when they really want the other, but conversions from one to the other are very rare.
Really, the main issues boil down to unreasonable or unrealistic expectations. Too many people aren't honest, even with themselves, about what they want, and then it all blows up in their face.11 Reply- 1 y
That's very true.

1 yI think they are dumb and only benefit men.. though I suppose some women are skanks and like to sleep around as well to get that pretend validation that they are "sexy" or "wanted" when in reality men aren't that picky..
Look at Hugh Grant, he had a model for a wife and was fucking disgusting street whores on the side who were fat, ugly and probably riddled with STD's🤣Women need to stop promoting and helping men to have shitty behaviours or they should at the least have to pay for it.. stop giving free sex out, you dumb cunts.

As a relationship coach, I'm here to spread some love and clarity! Situationships and friends with benefits can be thrilling yet tricky. They're like eating dessert for dinner—delicious but not always fulfilling. If you're pursuing them, ensure both parties are on the same page to avoid emotional lovebombing or unexpected ghosting. Keep communication open, and remember, nothing wrong with a sprinkle of romance—just watch for those red flags! 🤔💖

I prefer friends with benefits with a girl with some strings attached , FWB’s with no strings attached is looking for trouble unless you both are on the same exact page as things , if not it won’t work , some strings attached just means you both only have sex with each other and no one else , you are both allowed to date other people , but if you sleep with any of them , you immediately end the benefits part and remain friends This only works with honest people ,

m 1 yOh those words are fun. That recent neologism "situationship" in particular. I found no viable translation in my language because translation said: Situation, then I looked for the translation of relationship, it said: Relation. Unhelpful 🤨
Relationship: A romantic or sexual involvement. The American Heritage dictionary. Situationship: A romantic relationship (!) between two people who do not yet consider themselves a couple but who have more than a friendship. Cambridge dictionary
Apparently, a situationship is a transition phase then, signifying that there is no couple yet. Why not, but what is a couple then?
Couple. two people who are married or in a romantic or sexual relationship. Cambridge dictionary.
So, now I that I know what a relationship is and what a couple is, with these new elements, a situationship is in fact:
A romantic relationship, that is, a romantic or sexual involvement between two people who do not yet consider themselves in a romantic or sexual relationship but who have more than a friendship. 🤣
How interesting...
Thank you for playing the game of language !20 Reply - 3.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic.

1 ySituationships, Id like to hear your definition ok DNA situationship. Ideally its a good idea but more often than not one person develops more off an attachment than the other. The could lead to jealousy when one party in the situation finds someone who is a romantic interest and the other gets jealous about it despite any agreementsnmade. n that in itself his noon big deal but jealous people are capable of some pretty weird behavior.

That's true. It could lead to that which is why I wouldn't recommend it ever. One party is just bound to get hurt.
1 yI know ow a few women who have had friends with benefits relationships or got into situationships and they always end up wasting years or getting hurt. They get with some guy they see as husband material but he does see her as wife material so when he dumps them and marries a better woman they are devastated.
If you like a guy and can see a future then don't get into a friends with benefits/situationship because he likely doesn't.
10 Reply595 opinions shared on Relationships topic. I think they are fine, but hard to manage and keep as only a friends with benefits relationship, since sooner or later, one or the other will want a more committed relationship. I have been just stupid or naive enough to have completely loused up two or more such relationships due to my selfishness or stupidity or maybe both.
I think it takes two special people to maintain a friends with benefits relationship, and loved it when I had it.

1 yI been wanting friends with benefits off and on but that isn't happening with me. I don't get a lot of bedroom playtime like most adults have or done. I don't see myself getting into any short terms or long-terms. Friends with benefits sounds a lot of fun but it has cons and again I don't see myself entering any friends with benefits relationship and The dating world is very brutal. Also relationships and sex ain't for everybody

1 yAny woman who's ever had one of these or a hookup is an immediate deal breaker and not girlfriend material.
20 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. The woman is giving sex and does not get anything back except sex. Men used to have to make a commitment for sex. Or pay for sex. And you wonder why guys don't want to date and get married. They don't have to.

1 yI don't know what the difference is
13 Reply- 1 y
The main difference between a situationship and a friends with benefits (friends with benefits) relationship is that situationships involve emotional dependency, while friends with benefits relationships are more platonic. According to Google AI.

@Zack-Bann Okay, what IS a situationship?
- 1 y
Its an excuse to have exclusive sex while being monogamous (unlike friends with benefits that involves the freedom to see others)
But it’s unlike a relationship where it develops into meeting parents and potential marriage
Ultimately a situationship is what one might call a “a bad idea” because it’s doomed before it even begins - 1 y
@Zack-Bann Sounds like a relationship, to me!
Fancy words for fornication.
