Nowadays there are so many factors that go into by friends with benefits might be more attractive relationships than full on committed relationships. I would say the number one reason would be that we are still trying to figure out who we are and until you figure that out it’s hard to find out who you want to spend your life with. It seems silly to settle down with someone rather than date whoever here and there while having a friends with benefits on the side. Let’s be clear that not all friends with benefits relationships are just using eachother for sex. I have a feeling too many people have had bad friends with benefits experiences that make them shy away from the idea. True friends with benefits would be someone who honestly does care for you, there is sex involved, and possibly more benefits like dates here and there. The difference between friends with benefits and full relationship in my opinion all comes down to expectations. friends with benefits has much less expectations from eachother and therefor it’s easier to maintain. You can still go on dates and be really good friends but usually the expectations are much lower than in full on relationships where you’re expected to go to family events etc.
