I feel that religion is the only thing that could ruin many relationships... How to stop and prevent this?
1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Just take control of the situation and say right now is not a good time to talk about it that's cool have fun or do whatever we don't need to talk about this right now.
And you can always say you know the best thing about you is your beliefs and who you are the best thing about me is my beliefs and who I am let's just leave it like that
The thing with religious people
Is it they will fight to The bitter end to say they're right when all reality is you don't know for 100%
I have faith and I do believe in my God my universe my energy
Become one with self one with others and one with the universe
That means love yourself love others help others succeed and one with the universe our energy our God
And I can also say just because I think something today doesn't mean that I'm right it means something that I believe in that I have faith in because a thousand other reasons.
And just because somebody else believes in something else doesn't mean that I have to have that argument with them.
I look at people who are highly religious and they got that religion from their parents because of what their parents believe in
One day when they leave the house the parents house and then they find religion on their own that's a different story there's no reason to have conflicts in anything because each one of your religions probably tells you not to have those type of conflicts there's better ways to settle things00 Reply

A girl I was banging a little while back was Christian and we ended up having a fight about it. I was going through some shit and she started pushing her beliefs on me as if that is even a solution in my mind. I guess for her, praying a magic man in the sky resolves everything (even though it never seemed to help her at all with anything), and for me... I'm looking for pragmatic, logical solutions to solve problems and come out on top. I'm not wasting my time on doing the hokey pokey shit, and we finally clashed about it. To be fair to her, I did poke fun at religious people doing some stupid shit.
We agreed to just not talk about religion at all and moved forward. It was fine after that.

Well to be fair, while praying might not always work for the religious people, whatever the atheists are doing in place of praying is definitely not working to make their lives better. So while there may not be a prayer ATM machine there is spiritual fulfillment that can at times make the theist's life appear something to envy. Which is ironic because the non-theist tends to scoff at the theist and smugly set on his or her throne of pragmatism. But when he looks down to the lowly peasant Christian below he may make a troubling observation. The theist is often happier than he is. They've done studies on this very thing. I'm not making it up. I quit my Christianity, so I'm not necessarily building crosses or seeking converts. But I cannot deny that which is true.

@Drelikee I remember the studies you speak of, and yes it is true, they're happier. It's statistically proven as far as survey stats go. Anecdotally I'd vouch for that as well... nothing like a burned crackhead somehow seeing his pile of shit of a life as a blessing... still... somehow. But I attribute that to them just making something like a meal a blessing when to one of us, it's just a meal we had to work for. Belief... it's a powerful thing.
To put it another way... it is sort of 'strange' when someone that's getting a reward for something they're long overdue for, says it's because of God... I want to tell them, "Bro, you worked your ass of for it though," but I don't want to be that dick and point that out to them... let it be a blessing from god if that's what makes them happy.
I've sat through so much scholastic studies of theological shit in college that I should have it broken down into a science. I'm talking multiple translations and so on... I guess I just never had the preset buttons set to fall into line. It's something I've studied, just like Plato or Socrates, but I've never accepted it as real or more real than Thor and Odin, or Budda... and so on.
As they say though, to each their own. My judgment isn't far enough to talk shit... I just find it annoying sometimes when religious people are getting in my way. I don't care if they're Christian, Muslim or whatever. I think Asop's fables are great and have important lessons to teach, but I'm not going to start thinking animals talk and shit like some sort of anamorphism cartoon. That's just taking "belief" a bit too far in my book.
1.7K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Religion is only one of the reasons and causes of conflicts between partners. There are many more but besides, religion and politics, another major one, if not the most important conflict is the one of sexuality.
More often than not, people place such a massive importance on sex that it ruins a relationship because the one or the other partner starts cheating on the other partner.
You can avoid all those conflicts by simply ensuring that you are never addressing any of those conflicting issues, be it religion, politics, sex & pornography, addictions or other potentially harming issues.
If you feel you are not compatible on all aspects, then simply avoid to be in a relationship with that person.

1 yMake sure you both understand each other’s religions and see where, if anywhere, you’re willing to compromise. I knew a catholic who was married to an atheist. Because they both respected each other and their beliefs, they had a long, fruitful marriage

1 yMy ex-wife and current wife and I have similar religious beliefs. I've dated women with different beliefs... we agree to not push beliefs on the other person and, in general, we don't discuss religion much.

1 yOf all the things that ruin relationships I wouldn’t have thought of religion except for where one party suddenly “ finds their god”. in my opinion relationship's likely either wouldn’t even start or faith surrendered because the desire for the relationship.
Personally, I could never be in a relationship with a woman that had strong religious views irrespective of who they thought their god was as to me it’s ridiculous to believe that there is any god.
So for me , avoidance of conflict has never and would never be an issue. Don’t misunderstand though, I’m completely accepting of any persons devotion to any god or faith but it could never be shared.00 Reply - 1.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
1 yReligion can be an obstacle same as politics is an obstacle.
Look at the vast number of libs cutting off family due to politics.
Dumb Jennifer Lawrence propaganda!
Specifically christianity teaches not to join outsiders, very pragmatic and realistic.
00 Reply 660 opinions shared on Relationships topic. For me it hasn't been a problem. I think if someone was very strict with their religion we would probably drift apart before even becoming close. And with people who are more open minded and free thinkers it's more easy to overcome things like cultural differences etc. It's not always gonna be easy but it's possible if both sides try :)
00 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. It's all about mutual respect and listening, rather trying to impose your ideas and will on others.
However, If you're in fundamentally different places in terms of your values and ideas, it does make me wonder about the sustainability of any relationship.

1 yI'm not religious and I only would date a non religious woman. So this issue isn't applicable to me, but really its not applicable to anyone, because even a religious person is only going to be with another person who shares the same religion as them.

Then don't engage in religion. don't ask, don't tell, yet show respect.
People making conflicts about the possibility of an invisible man in the sky is something i don't have words for.

1 yAll people should commit long term with people you SHARE core values with.
That is part of having successful relationships. You have to be wise enough to weed out those in which your core values do not align.

1 ySome couple manage to have two religion but for me it’s not possible. Faith is very important to me. I want to celebrate the same Holliday going to church together pray to same ideology. I have grown up seeing many miracles of healing and spiritual gift. I just can’t be with Muslim Buddhism Catholic etc. I know it’s all bullshit

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yFor starters, I wouldn't date a woman that was a non Christian or at the very least open to Christianity. But beyond that, while most things in Christianity are not up for debate. Everyone has thier own personal relationship with God. I'm not about to tell her hers anymore than she should tell me mine. But it's each of our jobs as Christians to help facilitate a closer relationship with God if we're able.

1 yThats ludicrous… lots damages relstionships.
Learn to communicate and compromise without losing yourself and damaging the other. Choose someone largely compatibile01 Reply- 1 y
But you self contradicted.
You say compromise but that is only about personal whims, but people consider religion the one thing that they can't compromise.
avoid discussing it in the first place. If someone tries to bring it up, say you’d rather not discuss it and change the subject. Religion, politics and sex are better not discussed.
