Only conservatives or menosphere people think that way. Otherwise depending on someone else is the opposite of being independant. That is why many left leaning people hold the opinion, that women are not truly equal in society because of societal expectectations. These are just wrong for many of them and not fullfilling them has serious disanvantages no one really counts as such because "its their choice".
