1. Your question assumes that "freedom and independence" are the only alternative to marriage. Bad assumption.

2. If the premise of your question was true, marriages would have stopped completely. In 2025, the rate of marriage in the US was 5.8 marriages per 1,000 people, down from 6.2 in 2022. (But remember that covid hit the US in 2020 and many marriages got postposed, so there was a temporary increase when covid restrictions were relaxed around the US.)

3. The marriage rate has declined somewhat since the 1970's for primarily two reasons: people are waiting longer before they get married, and more couples are choosing to love together without being married.

Most people still want to find a long term partner and settle in to a stable relationship. If you don't believe that, go to the busiest mall in your area, sit in a main corridor, and watch all the couples strolling by.

Women have the opportunity to live independent lives without family or children if they choose, with greater career opportunities, earning potential and birth control there is nothing holding a woman back. There are women who choose marriage/children, some have children without marriage.

I think men need to stop living in fear of choices modern women make, modern men have our own challenges navigating the modern world.

Not really. Just we have the problem of the women who “want it all” and that doesn’t really make sense. If you’re going to live a life where you focus on career, then God bless and go do it, but don’t expect everything to be “your way or the highway” and don’t pretend you can have the perfect family life AND ALSO the perfect work life. Something has got to give. Personally, if you do choose career, then be morally responsible about not popping kids into the world who you’re not serious about raising and tending to directly. Nannies and all the other junk lead to kids who feel isolated from their parents, which is a big deal… not to mention the millions of latchkey kids who are abandoned and neglected by one or both parents.

Throughout most of recorded human history, some women have chosen independence. Others had children. Often, they may not have had a choice. Nowwomen do have a choice. However, many of us will chose to a wife and mother.

As time passes, the percentage of women making one of the two choices may vary.

I personally believe that freedom and independence isn't opposite to marriage and kids. It is all about having the freedom to choose the life you want. My mom does it all and still raised us well. She recently won a award for her business skills.

Not really, we have women who do actually want that, and more power to em. Then you have women who, due to bullying and hate pushed out by independent women, who feel like they have to be independent and child free so they don't "betray the sisterhood" of some such bullshit, and then you have the brave ones who are like my wife and chose family
