Guys and girls of GAG, Can you admit when you're wrong to your spouse? Are you able to apologize for being wrong?

This is not meant to be gendered. I see this all the time though in BOTH women and men. Someone does something wrong and they refuse to say sorry. Or they refuse to admit when they are wrong. That kind of thing can destroy a marriage/relationship.

This is coming from someone who has been married for a decade. i can't tell you the number of times i have been wrong. and yes i definitely admit when im wrong.

Sure. And if I make a mistake and I realize it, I don't need to be prompted admit my mistake. I do so as soon as I can.

I don't make all that many mistakes, actually, but I'm human and flawed and I definitely make them from time to time, and I learned long ago that mistakes are usually opportunities for learning and growth rather than something to be feared. I'm not afraid to admit to my mistakes.

The irony is that people tell me all the time that "you're always right" - even though many have heard me admit to plenty of mistakes. The very fact that I readily admit it when I'm wrong about something or I screw up makes people more likely to forgive me and move on, and even forget that I did anything wrong.

What makes people upset is when someone can't admit their mistakes, or even worse, tries to blame it on other people. That's rage-inducing for a lot of people, and I'm not much of a fan myself. That's why I try to hold myself accountable. I don't always succeed, but I do actively make an effort.

Yes I am a very honest person , but sadly most people can’t handle honesty , or do not know how to be honest because they can’t take accountability for their own selfish behavior , or actions , so they sugar coat it as much as possible to make themselves look like they are innocent when really they aren’t. I will only enter a relationship with a girl that is honest with me , if I catch her in lies the relationship is over

I don't currently have a spouse but I am perfectly okay with admitting that I am wrong about something and apologize to the person.

the answer is yes. However… I don’t just say sorry.
when I first met my hubby… he used to say sorry a lot. I had to speak to him loads of times the meaning of sorry and how it loses the depth of the word by abusing it.
when I know I have done something wrong. A discussion regarding my wrong doing must take place.
a sincere apologies must occur and I must change my behavior…it’s a gesture and I must keep my words.
I do not agree with just saying sorry then move on.

Same here it's like my wife constantly said sorry for everything.. I had to stop her doing that cause she almost never had anything to be sorry for.

I'm able to admit when I'm wrong to anyone, but its rare that I'm wrong because I'm not the type to spout off about things I'm not certain of, and I'm a very considerate person so "morally wrong" isn't something I do either.

I'd also not marry someone I argue with or didn't get along with because thats how marriages become divorces.

Most definitely. It doesn't bother me to admit when I am wrong. If it deserves an apology, I am quick to apologize.
