I choose fire because for me it represents life force and nothing can beat that in the way of a personality of a partner. Inevitably it becomes your biggest strength in a way. And intensity isn't always bad. It's actually the very thing that fuels creativity.

I consider myself the wind type, and I think I'd prefer water out of the options. Wind is likely a secondary for myself.

Whichever is most compatible with mine, which would be either earth or wind... I would presume more wind in terms of compatibility, though I've tended to veer towards the earth personalities. It's not a 100% science.
