My husband of 6 years just admitted to me that I'm ugly. My self esteem is down the drain and I don't know what to do?

I always dealt with low self esteem. Nobody has ever had a crush on me. All in all I always knew I was ugly until I met my husband. he truly made me believe I was beautiful and he kept saying it so much that I believed it.

It was not until today that we got into a fight and he let out his true colors, admitting that I was actually ugly. He kept calling me ugly until I cried. My self esteem is down the drain and I don't know what to do.

First off your husband is a fucking asshole for saying that to you period , . but the truth is , you aren’t ugly , because he wouldn’t of been with you or married you , if he thought you were ugly to begin with. He said it, because he knew you were sensitive about that specifically. That's why he said it. To hurt you. As deeply as he could with words. The scene you describe is disturbing.

There is no way no how that this crept up on you in six years. There were other warning signs. Whether you recognized them... you didn't... is the problem. I feel bad for you but life is life. If you aren't trolling as an anon then you should already have an idea of what you should do. It's over and be done with it. He's not goi. g to change his mind about your appearance so why bother appeasing him? Why not get a fresh start with someone who appreciates you for your looks and personality. That latter bit is way more important and what people generally judge potential matches on. This is. tough but you can do it. Happy to lend an ear if you need one
