Should you date multiple people before committing?

In the past I used to commit pretty right away when dating someone, and although I don't think of it as a mistake, now I want to take it easy and see what different people have to offer. Plus I don't really have the energy to commit again so soon and would rather enjoy independence for a while, then who knows.

Thankfully the person I am having a friendly frequentation with absolutely undestands this, and especially that the little free time I have between work, business and family obligations I prefer to spend leisurely and without much care.

not that I ever happened to see it as "I should do this or that"

it just happened the way it did... whenever I met someone who got my attention, I happened to focus on that one person alone... and I just didn't have an "interest" on others

so, I never really dated around nor that much either... if I liked someone, then I ended up with that someone

I don't think so, but it's a personal choice of every individual, some people apparently need multiple relationships.
