Could you give up a long term relationship for a really good job opportunity in another country?

If a really good job opportunity of a lifetime came along in another country that would require you to live in another country long term and your significant other refused or could not up and leave so you could achieve your dream, would you give up on the relationship or turn down the job of a lifetime?

This would really depend on what stage you are in your relationship. If you're just dating for months or are stuck in one of those long, dead-end relationship going nowhere, no kids and you're getting little to nothing out of it, obviously a better job position would be ideal. Though you have to be careful for scammers.

Depends on the nature of the relationship. If we have kids together, etc. etc. then no. If you're just dating long term and you're not married then possibly the job... and I do know many young couples who figure out how to make the LDR thing work for a limited-time work opportunity. I would not personally recommend LDR, however each relationship is different so it's something to assess on a case-by-case basis.

Depends on the situation and the relationship. But in general, it's easier to find a good job than a good partner in my opinion, so I'd probably stay with my partner if we couldn't reach some sort of agreement regarding long-distance and eventual relocation. I'm also just not the most passionate about work atm, so I struggle to imagine leaving my entire life behind in order to pursue employment. Possible, but improbable.

Not trying to dissuade you, but please understand that scam artists are becoming more and more clever by the day. They will post legitimate looking jobs to an unsuspecting public. Ask LOTS of questions and look out for inconsistencies.

Thanks for the worry, but it's a hypothetical question. I had a friend who was in this position once, but she ended up turning down the job and I was asking if she regretted it ever when she was just thinking about what she missed out on, and she said, no, she lives with no regrets.
